Пам’ятаючи про це і як голова Конвенційного комітету XXVII Конвенції СУА, написала статтю під назвою “Центральна Окружна Управа Нью-Йорку, Конвенції, Вибори та Безперер вність”, яку опубліковано 02/06 у журналі “Наше Життя”. У ній було згадано багато винагород за активну участь у Конвенції СУА, що встрикують гордість, установлюють почуття сестрицтва і запалюють натхнення до праці. Зв’язкова та англомовна пресова секретарка мають співпрацювати протягом каденції, а ми не мали такої секретарки, тому я подала декілька інших статтей до журналу “Наше Життя”: інтерв’ю з артисткою Вірою Фармігою (01/07), зі славетним виробником мистецької ноші Марією Мухин-Арчир (04/08). У перебігу розмови, обміну персональними думками про успіхи та досягнення їм представлено цілі СУА та надзвичайна праця нашої орга нізації. На початку цієї каденції наша парляментаристка Оксана Ксенос люб’язно погодилася репрезентувати інтереси СУА у Вашінґгоні, ДС, і робила це завжди, коли б не була запрошеною. Дякую, Оксано! Із підтримкою та заохоченням нашої голови Ірини Куровицької, я можу підсумувати моїх три роки як заступниці у справах зв’язків як заповнені вивчаннями, винагородами та осягненнями. MARIANNA ZAJAC VICE PRESIDENT - PUBLIC RELATIONS My assignments as Vice President for Public Relations were framed in accordance with resolutions passed during the last convention, that is the XXVII Convention held in Albany, New York, in 2005. Once I was voted into the position, it became clear that creating awareness of our organization would be an ongoing process and that the process would consist of taking every opportunity to seek out potential supporters. However, it was a task that would also include reinforcing to our own members why their work, is so significant to our community. This would mean a slow, persistent, and consistent effort to broadcast those points. One of the major undertakings addressed by the UNWLA during this term was the publication of attractive brochures (in Ukrainian and English) summarizing the UNWLA’s long list of exceptional accomplishments since its inception in 1925. These brochures are an outstanding public relations tool and advertise our extensive list of 83 years of charitable deeds. The materials for brochures were compiled from UNWLA archives by UNWLA Vice President Marta Danyluk and organized with the assistance of UNWLA President Iryna Kurowyckyj. I volunteered to translate the Ukrainian brochure into English. The Ukrainian version was printed in September 2006 and the English in October 2007.1 and worked closely with Tamara Stadnychenko, the English-language editor of Our Life. Both brochures are colorful. The English is absolutely essential for communicating who we are to the non-Ukrainian public. Attending UNWLA Regional Council and branch meetings and events is extremely gratifying to members of the Executive Board and offers encouragement and support to our membership at the same time. In conjunction with this, I have fulfilled my responsibilities as vice president as follows: • Belonging to the Central New York Regional Council, I attend its annual meetings and also those of Branch 95 to which I belong. • On October 26, 2005,1 attended the 40th anniversary celebration of Branch 89 in Kerhonkson, New York. • I was formally appointed Convention Liaison on June 15, 6006, at our monthly Executive Board meeting and visited the hosts of the XXVIII Convention, the Detroit Regional Council even before accepting this title, on February 4, 2006. Having served as the Convention Chairperson of the XXVII Convention, I was happy to share information with the volunteers working on the upcoming convention. 124 XXVIII Конвенція СУА www.unwla.org
