On June 9, 2006, I was mistress of ceremonies during the UN luncheon for the National Council of Women/US at which Prill Boyle presented her book. On October 19, 2006, ten members of the International Hospitality Committee of NCW/US, including your president, were invited to a farewell luncheon to the house of the UN Secretary General Koffee Annan’s wife. I presented Mrs. Nanna Annan with a copy of the November 2003 issue of Our Life magazine, the issue dedicated to the Great Famine in Ukraine. It is a gift that I often present to the wives of various ambassadors at receptions I have attended. I have served on the NCW International Hospitality Committee since 1982. As former president of NCW/US, I serve on the Advisory Com mittee. Iryna Kurowyckyj, ICW liaison to UN addresses plenary At a farewell luncheon in the home of Mrs. Nanna Annan. Every year at the end of February and the first week in March, the UN Commission holds its meetings, and the NGOs have side events. In 2006 and 2007 the Permanent Mission of Ukraine to the UN sponsored the two meetings and Tatiana Izhevska was one of the speakers sent to represent the Mission. At the time, she was Ukraine’s Ambassador to Luxembourg; today she is Ukraine’s Ambassador to the Vatican. In 2008, the ICW worked with the Permanent Mission to UN Papua New Giunea, and I was the coordinator for the program and prepared the fliers for two of the ICW side evens. The Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) was founded 40 years ago, and it is the highest coordinating body in Ukrainian diaspora. It is an umbrella organization for 100 social, religious, youth, and women’s organizations. The UWC holds its annual meetings in Ukraine. As president I and First Vice President Oxana Farion attended the following: 2005 meeting in Kharkiv, 2006 meeting in Kyiv, 2007 meeting in Donetsk. The UWC holds its Congress every 5 years; its current president is Dr. Askold Lozynsky. Your president serves on the Executive Committee through the WFUWO. As the UNWLA is an individual member of this umbrella organization, I submitted 4 written reports for the annual meetings and one XXVIII Конвенція СУА 99 www.unwla.org
