Prokopovych contributed a review of Viktor Malarek's The Natashas as well as an article on the Semantics of the Rushnyk. Rounding out this category were a number of poems translated from Ukrainian by Virlana Tkacz, Helene Turkswicz Sanko, and others. Life in the Diaspora. From UNWLA Parliamentarian Oksana Xenos, we had several articles on tax issues as well as an intriguing "how to article" on Bringing Up Baby in Ukrainian. Lisa Calice gave us a heartwarming story about the three children she and her husband adopted from Ukraine. In "Sailing to Success," we learned about a young woman's achievements in the world of science, and in "Good Morning, Miss Ukraine" we read about a young boy's thrilling encounter with a beautiful celebrity. Last year, we were proud to include an article about Anna Krawczuk's election as National Commander of the UAV. Rounding out this category was an article about fashion, an article about roofing, an article about safety tips for women, and an article about a successful community Svitlychka. Health. Nearly every issue has included concise and practical advice on health issues. Penned by Dr. Ihor Magun, these articles have addressed topics ranging from heart attacks to diet to botox to childhood obesity. In addition, we have published several articles on matters related to elder-care, contributed by Irene Repczuk D'Alessio. Notes from Ukraine. Articles in this group included sobering information about women's health issues and the AIDS epidemic as well as a number of vignettes and analytical pieces from Martha Bohachevsky Chomiak about daily life in and events in Ukraine. Several articles (from Marta Zielyk and one from Robert McConnell) described the election process in Ukraine. The most recent contribution from Ms. Zielyk included information about the post-election meeting between U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell and Ukraine's president-elect Viktor Yushchenko as well as a glimpse of the inauguration and the inaugural ball. Other. Obituaries, seasonal stories, recipes, and letters round out the content of Our Life issues published during the last three years. Despite frequent requests from the editor, there are too few letters and too few stories related to the holidays that we celebrate. Four letters from readers were published during the previous year. While this represents a new record, it is not enough. I would like to see more of these letters as they represent feedback on what is being published and what readers would like to see published. I would like to thank UNWLA President Iryna Kurowyckyj for her support and for her unfailing efforts to provide substantial and substantive materials for publication. I would also like to thank the authors who take the time and effort to contribute the stories, poems, articles, and letters that make every issue possible. XXVII Конвенція СУА 119 www.unwla.org
