Branch 96 (Detroit) - 40th anniversary Branch 108 (New England) - 40th anniversary Branch 56 (Northport, Florida) - 20th anniversary Branch 124 (St. Petersburg, Florida) - 10th anniversary Branch 125 (New York) - 10th anniversary Branch 115 (Detroit) - 10th anniversary Branch 131 (New Jersey) - Membership Charter Branch 132 (Detroit) - Membership Charter Branch 45 (Detroit) Member’s 100th birthday In addition, I represented the UNWLA Executive Com mittee at various events: the annual meetings of the Chicago Regional Council, Ohio Regional Council, Detroit Regional Council and Branch 56 (Northport); as well as at festive fundraising events, such as Vyshyvani Vechornytsi hosted by Branch 56 (Northport) and Branch 27 (Pittsburg). The latter included the presentation of five lovely debutantes. I truly appreciate the opportunity to meet the membership and observe the wonderful work being done. Circulars were issued to update the responsibilities of the membership chairs at both the branch and regional council levels, as an introduction to the Recruitment Campaign, and with the annual report packets. Note that the annual report forms were edited and simplified wherever possible. However, only 86% of the branches submitted annual reports for 2009. Although this is an improvement, we would like to receive 100% of the 2010 reports. Membership Statistics The UNWLA is currently organized into nine Regional Councils encompassing 64 branches, with an additional 11 as Branches-at-Large. It was difficult to compile an accurate membership count from the 2008 and 2009 reports received from the branches. There was often a mismatch between the numbers submitted by the presidents and membership chairs. In addition, these numbers often differed from those presented in the financial reports and submitted dues. To maintain consistency, UNWLA Financial Secretary Roma Shuhan, Chairwoman for Members-at-Large Roxolana Yarymovych, and I collaborated to present the membership count based on paid dues. A “Dues Exemption Request” form and procedures were implemented for branches with elderly members in nursing homes and/or ill members unable to pay dues. This process has enabled branches to formally maintain these once- active women as members. The 2010 membership count is approximately 2,000 paying members, which includes 192 Members-at-Large and 23 members approved for exemption from dues payment.
