a med-tech, who covered the journey of a З-day breast cancer walk; a Byzantine iconographer; and a dulcimer player. Members attended the grand opening of the Ukrainian Village, a Ladies Day Tea, the Den Soyuzianky picnic, the St. Nicholas Luncheon, the Christening of Branch 132, the Christmas Bazaar at our UNWLA domivka, a literary evening, and the hosting of an educational delegation from Ukraine. We contributed and prepared Easter and Christmas baskets for the needy. On a sad note, we lost a member of our branch, Alberta Cieply, in 2009. 2010 President Christina Panasiuk and Vice President Martha Jovanovic conducted the 9 meetings held during the year. Currently, four of our members serve on the Regional Council. Guest speakers at the branch meetings included a nature center specialist, an emergency nurse, the Director of Public and External Relations of the Detroit Historical Society, the owner of Flowers by Deb, a physical therapist, and a members of the Warren Historical and Genealogical Society. Other activities included hosting a “nyzynka” embroidery design demonstration and participation in the Open World program sponsored in conjunction with the U.S.-Ukraine Foundation, an educational program that invited and hosted six professors from Ukraine to experience the American educational system. We were active in the Detroit Regional Council’s “Koliada,” celebrated the 10th anniversary of Branch 115, registered members at the Regional Council’s annual meeting, attended the Taras Shevchenko Tribute, and also attended two book signings (one featuring Ukrainians in Metro Detroit, and the other featuring Your Place in History). Our branch participated at the Ukrainian Village (elderly) Valentine Social and Thanksgiving luncheon and continues to support the needy and elderly with Easter and Christmas baskets.
