In the past three years, the following work has been done: June 20, 2008. I received 20 boxes from UNWLA Honorary President Iryna Kurowyckyj, each of which contained documents to be categorized. During this time, Mrs. Kurowyckyj also collected 12 boxes of materials that were to be stored in the UNWLA office in New York City. November 5, 2008. I shipped two boxes with children’s literature to Soyuz Ukrainok of Ukraine in Sumy and one box to Symferopil (Simferopol) in the Crimea (from the remaining collection of the diaspora children’s literature for the book exhibits in Lviv and Kyiv in 1992). A gift of 62 books was given to the New Ukrainian School in Newark, New Jersey, and the Zahoronka preschool of the John the Baptist Church in Newark, New Jersey, received 22 books. November 7, 2008. I prepared a selection of UNWLA archival documents for the Holodomor 1932-1933 exhibit, which was held in the Ukrainian American Cultural Center in Whippany, New Jersey, on November 8-9, 2008. November 19, 2008. Together with Olha Lukiw, president of the New Jersey Regional Council, and her husband, I sorted the boxes with our archival documents that had been brought from the UNWLA office to the public storage facility in New Jersey. December 5, 2008. The UNWLA received a letter from the Immigration History Research Center informing us that starting in 2009 they would be accepting new documents only every five years, in other words, that our next shipment should be sent no earlier than 2014. December 13, 2008. At the funeral of Dora Rak, former Archive Committee chair on the Executive Committee, president of the New Jersey Regional Council, and a member of Branch 2 8 ,1 delivered a eulogy on behalf of the UNWLA National Board. December 15, 2008. 1 shipped nine boxes of categorized documents to the IHRC. April 30, 2009. UNWLA President Marianna Zajac inspected our documents in the public storage facility in Matawan, New Jersey, and advised that we engage Olia Drozdovych to assist with maintaining the archives. I contacted Mrs. Drozdovych and invited her to join the Archive Committee. This was followed by our meeting at the public storage facility on July 1, 2009. With the welcome assistance of Mrs. Drozdovych’s husband, we took stock of all the documents stored there, as requested by President Marianna Zajac. October 29, 2009. I submitted an announcement to Our Life and sent out letters to the presidents of Regional Councils to inform them that we had several copies of a book entitled How to Make Christmas Tree Ornaments available for purchase. Total revenue from the sale of the book was $181.72. December 10, 2009. On behalf of the UNWLA National Board, I delivered a eulogy in memory of our Honorary Member Myroslava Stakhiv. January 6, 2010. 1 sent two folders with complete lists of all the UNWLA archival documents to the editor of Our Life : one contained a list of the organization’s documents that had been sent to the IHRC in Minneapolis; the other cataloged the materials stored in the UNWLA office in New York City. January 27, 2010.1 delivered five boxes with sorted archives to the UNWLA office in New York City. Relying on my computer files and paper copies, I prepared an updated comprehensive list of all UNWLA archives stored at the IHRC in Minneapolis and in the UNWLA office in New York City. This listing is likely to be very useful if anyone needs to request specific documents from the IHRC holdings. Currently, the UNWLA archival collection in Minneapolis includes 60 boxes of documents from the National Board, 8 boxes from Regional Councils, 15 boxes from branches, and 10 boxes from the UNWLA Scholarship Program Committee. I also prepared a second list, which itemizes important documents stored at the UNWLA office (16 boxes). In total, the categorized archives of our organization (with descriptions available in English and Ukrainian) comprises 109 boxes. Additional archival materials continue to arrive at UNWLA headquarters every year. While serving as Archive Committee Chair for the 2008-2010 term, I prepared circulars for the Regional Councils and branches. I answered various questions from branch presidents and provided them with instructions on classification and organization of their respective UNWLA archives. The fire in the UNWLA office in August 2010 hindered further work with the documents for the archive. 140 XXIXКонвенція СУА www.unwla.org
