VERA N. KUSHNIR MEMBER-AT-LARGE During the 2008-2011 reporting period, my responsibilities and activities as Member-at-Large have comprised the following: • I am a member of the UNWLA Website Committee. • I was appointed liaison of the Executive Committee to the XXIX Convention Committee, a position that involved overseeing all details and planning of the convention. I kept in touch with the convention chair, Olga Lukiw, and traveled to meetings in New Jersey as necessary over the course of 2Vi years. • Researched and purchased computers, software programs, audiovisual and electronic equipment for UNWLA headquarters. • Organized the 2009 National Board meeting held at Soyuzivka in Kerhonkson, New York, and the 2010 National Board meeting held in NYC. • Organized and facilitated the celebration in honor of the 85th anniversary of the UNWLA, which was held at the Ukrainian Museum in NYC in October 2010. • Represented UNWLA, with President Marianna Zajac, at the 2009 meeting of the World Federation of Ukrainian Women’s Organizations and the World Congress of Ukrainians, both of which were held in Lviv, Ukraine. While in Ukraine, we met with the president and board members of the Soyuz Ukrainok Ukraine Lviv Oblast. We then traveled to Ivano-Frankivsk where we had the opportunity to meet with the president and board members of the Soyuz Ukrainok Ukraine Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast. We also had the chance to visit a nursing home in Ivano-Frankivsk, which is now part of the UNWLA Social Welfare project of care for the elderly in Ukraine. • I represented the UNWLA at the christening of the newly formed Branch 131 of the New Jersey Region, where I delivered the UNWLA president’s greetings and best wishes. • I attended all three annual National Board meetings and most Executive Committee meetings. • I am a member of Branch 99 of Watervliet, New York, and have been the branch president for the past four years.
