September 2008 Together with UNWLA Vice President Ulana Zinych and Treasurer Nadia Cwiach, I represented our organization at the Fourth-Wave Convention in Stamford, Connecticut. I translated the resolutions of the XXVIII Convention of the UNWLA into English for Our Life. October 2008 Attended the annual meeting of the UNWLA National Board. January 2009 Attended the exhibition opening of the works by Mykhailo Turovsky, a Ukrainian-born artist. The event took place at the United Nations and was sponsored by the Permanent Mission of Ukraine to the UN. February and March 2009 Participated in the meetings of the American Committee to Honor Ukraine’s Victims, Famine-33, which focused on the proposed project of building a monument to the victims of the Holodomor in Washington, D.C. May 2009 I had an opportunity to attend the seminar held at the UN on the topic of the Holodomor, which included a presentation by Prof. Kapustian. The conference was organized by Dr. Christine Durbak with support from the Permanent Mission of Ukraine to the UN. Later that day, WFUWO President Maria Szkambara and Prof. Kapustian visited the UNWLA office where a short presentation for UNWLA members took place. June 2009 I participated in the Annual Meeting of the Ukrainian Museum in New York where I am a member of the Board of Trustees. I also wrote a letter to then President of Ukraine, Viktor Yushchenko, regarding the proposed monument to the victims of the Holodomor in Washington, D.C. In the letter, the UNWLA suggested that a joint US-Ukraine group be established to oversee this project. It was noted that time passes quickly, and that the monument should be built by 2013. September 2009 I set up an information table for the guests of the “Welcome to Ukrainian NY” night at the Ukrainian Institute in New York. This event was organized by the Ukrainian Institute for the second time and was aimed at introducing local Ukrainian-American organizations to students and young professionals. I also attended a reception with President Viktor Yushchenko and First Lady Kateryna Yushchenko at the Ukrainian Museum in New York. I contacted Mr. Gregory Long, a Rosetta Stone representative, concerning the possibility of including the Ukrainian language on the company’s list of languages. Unfortunately, I was informed that the company was not introducing any new languages at the time and were instead focusing on the improvement of those already in their program. Mr. Long advised us to fill out an application for further consideration; however, there have no been no further developments. October 2009 I participated in the annual meeting of the UNWLA National Board at Soyuzivka. March 2010 At the UNWLA president’s request, I represented our organization at the Ukrainian Days event in Washington, D.C. The event was organized by UNIS, the UCCA public affairs office in Washington, D.C., and offered an opportunity to meet with government officials or their representatives and educate them about the UNWLA’s work in the United States and in Ukraine, about the Holodomor, and about USAID funds that are allocated to support Ukraine. April 2010 From April 11 through April 14, 2010, the newly elected President of Ukraine, Viktor Yanukovych, paid an official visit to Washington, D.C. At around the same time, at the President’s 102 XXIXКонвенція СУА www.unwla.org
