Anna Krawczuk took part in the second meeting of the “Chornobyl Challenge ‘96”, coalition of community organizations, whose purpose is to mark the 10th anniver- ary of the Chornobyl catastrophe. 1/16/96. Executive Committee Meeting. Noted: “Chornobyl Challenge '96” is the name of a coalition, chaired by Oleksander Kuzma of CCRF, with the purpose of commemorat ing the 10th anniversary of the Chornobyl disaster. A prerequisite to membership in the coalition is the sponsorship in the amount of $5,000. From each member organization. With the approval of Regional Council presidents, a fund raiser went into effect for this purpose. 2/19/96. Executive Committee Meeting. Noted: Replacement of Olha Stawnychy was not found. Press releases about the 24th Convention have been sent to the media. The motto of the 24th Convention is taken from a poem by Lesia Ukrainka (Na ruinakh, 1904): “Sown and gathered in the past Not yesterday, and not today... Its time to start another sowing And await another harvest.” Decision was reached to invite Olena Vasylivna Krandakova, Deputy to Ukraine’s Parliament and Chair of the Presidential Committee oncerned with the welfare of women, mothers and children, as keynote speaker at the 24th Convention. Iryna Kuro- wyckyj will represent NCW/USA in the UN’s Committee on Family, and she also will represent the World Movement of Mothers. Luba Wolynetz joined the Editorial Commit tee of Our Life. The Executive Committee is very grate ful to the New York Regional Council for hte use of their premises for National Board meetings. The UNWLA office is located at 108 Se cond Avenue in New York City and is open five days per week from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. The full-time office staff is comprised of Omelana Rohozha, Director, and Natalia Duma, Administrator of Our Life magazine. During the reporting period the office recorded 328 incoming correspondence and 461 outgoing, including circulars to Branches, Regional Councils and members of the Na tional Board. Every year reminders are sent to Bran ches and Regional Councils, informing them about payment of dues. The office maintains files of members and enters any and all changes on the files as they are provided by the Branches. The materials necessary for the meetings of the National Board and for conferences is prepared by the office.
