The agreement between the Hospital and the MRI donors requires the Hospital to report every six months to the Supervisory Committee, on the number of Chornobyl patients treated, as well as on the financial aspects of this project. The Over seeing Committee is comprised of Anna Kraw- czuk, Lidia Czernyk, two members from CCRF and two representatives from GE. The com pany will be responsible for the maintenance of the MRI for one year, as well as the train ing of technicians who will operate it. UNWLA’s President and Social Welfare Chair plan to accompany the MRI to Ukraine. 8/6/94 — Meeting of the Executive Com mittee. Noted: October 22-23 was designated for the Annual Meeting of the National Board. In 1995 UNWLA will celebrate its 70th anni versary. Honorary President Iwanna Rozan- kowskyj agreed to take charge of the orga nization’s archives. Levko Chaban was en gaged (15 hours per week) to help in the edi torial office of Our Life. Anna Krawczuk and Lidia Czernyk delivered a comprehensive report on the preparation, shipment and delivery of the MRI to Kyiv, thus completing this project. In addition UNWLA also donated a childrens fibrogastroscope to the Children’s Health Center “ Dzerelo” in Truskavec, Ukraine. 9/19/94 — Meeting of the Executive Committee. Noted: The annual meeting of the WFUWO will be attended by Anna Kraw czuk, Olga Trytyak, and Barbara Bachynsky. Maria Kramarchuk was approved as member of the WFUWO By-Laws Committee. 10/11/94 — Meeting of the Executive Com mittee. Noted: Olena Bobylak resigned as chair of press. Tamara Stadnychenko was proposed as editor of the English language section of Our Life. October 22-23, 1994 — Annual Meeting of the National Board. Present for the first time were Maria Navarynsky, Liasion for Branches-at-Large. UNWLA parliamentarian Olha Rybakoff, as well as Rostyslava Fedak, President of the Sambir region of Soyuz Ukrainok of Ukraine. A minute of silence honored the memory of Honorary Member of UNWLA, Natalia Osinska-Chaplenko, mother of Anna Krawczuk. Joanna Ratych, chair of the Auditing Committee commended Anna Krawczuk and Taissa Turiansky for compu terizing UNWLA’s accounting financial re cords. The organization’s bookkeeping is di vided into four parts: UNWLA’s Head Office, Our Life magazine, the Scholarship Program and the Social Welfare program. A prelimi nary budget for 1995 was approved. Treas urer Roma Shuhan was commended for her diligent bookkeeping work. Since the organization will mark its 70th birthday in 1995, the President proposed to dedicate the year to celebrating UNWLA’s anniversary and acquiring new members. Looking ahead to UNWLA’s 75th birthday in the year 2000, she proposed that a history of the organization be published. Lidia Czernyk reported on her trip to Ukraine, visiting cen ters of Soyuz Ukrainok of Ukraine, as well as the village of Opachychy in the Chornobyl zone. She illustrated her report with a slide presentation. Reports of presidents of Re gional Councils were also heard. Maria Navarynsky reported on the ten Branches-at-Large which collectively have 301 members. Two letters from the Executive Committee were read: to Honorary President Lidia Burachynsky, thanking her for writing an article about co-founder and longtime president of UNWLA — Olena Lototsky, mar king the 100th year since her birth; to Iwanna Rozankowskyj for her article “The History of Our Life magazine.” Both also received silver medals commemorating Ukraine’s indepen dence in 1991. Joanna Ratych was elected to chair the UNWLA ByLaws Committee. Recommendations of the National Board of UNWLA: 1. One page in Our Life is to be dedi cated to organizational matters. 2. Prepare and publish a bilingual annual report of the activities of UNWLA for the past year. 3. All chairs on the National Board should write about their activities in Our Life maga zine at least once a year. 4. Formulate a plan for 1995, which will encompass UNWLA’s 70th anniversary cele bration. 5. Prepare a plan to create an ecology chair on the National Board. 6. Approve Maria Navarynsky to be the Liasion for Branches-at-Large and UNWLA’s National Board until the 24th Convention. 7. Uphold the resolutions of UNWLA’s 23rd Convention and the motions of the pre vious meetings of the National Board. Motions: 1995 is the year of honoring 91 www.unwla.org
