cils and Branches to work within the frame work of the resolutions of the 23rd Con vention. 10/26/93 — Executive Committee Meet ing. Noted: Documentation concerning the Supervisory Council, as well as certificates from Dr. Myndiuk, director of the Regional Pediatric Hospital in Lviv, Ukraine, and Dr. Petrukh confirming the fact that UNWLA had sent medical equipment at a cost of $121,498 to that hospital, were as yet unavailable. The Council includes Anna Krawczuk and Lidia Czernyk representing UNWLA. The acquisi tion of the MRI is a joint project of UNWLA, CCRF, and General Electric initiatied prior to 23rd Convention and will require an input of about $200,000 from UNWLA, and $150,000 from CCRF. The installation of the equip ment and its first year maintenance will be the responsibility of GE Medical Services. A Supervisory Committee for this project will include Anna Krawczuk, Lidia Czernyk and Dr. Chrystia Slywotzky. To mark the 50th annivesay of Our Life magazine, most Re gional Councils planned various celebratory events. Branches of UNWLA as well as com munity institutions, organizations and busi nesses were invited to publish their messages on the pages of Our Life. 12/4/93 — Meeting of the Executive Committee. Noted: Honorary President Lidia Burachynsky requested that Dr. Mary Beck’s donation of $1,000 be forwarded to WFOWO to cover the cost of publishing the book “Ukrainian Folk Costumes.” Irena Russnak became a member of the Social Welfare Committee. The Annual meeting o f the WFUWO held from 10/31-11/2/93, was attended by Anna Krawczuk and Olga Trytyak. Members of UNWLA on the Board of WFUWO: Natalia Danylenko — second vice-president, Irene Russnak —- art and museum, Olga Stawnychy — public relations, Chrystyna Nawrocky — chair of the By-Laws Committee, with Maria Kramarchuk as one of the members. In the World Congress of Ukrainians, UNWLA was represented by Anna Krawczuk, Olga Try tyak, Iryna Kurowyckyj, as well as Honorary President Maria Savchak, who was a member of the World Congress of Free Ukrainians Presidium. The meeting of the Executive Committee planned for 1/29/94 was canceled due to the funeral of Dr. Maria Kwitkowsky, Honorary President of the WFUWO. Anna Krawczuk attended the funeral. 1/31/94. Meeting of representatives from UNWLA and CCRF to discuss th MRI pro ject, the agreement with the hospital, as well as a projected meeting to be held in Kyiv in February. February 1994. The Executive Commit tee approved the proposition of “Social Sta tus” Fund, under Social Welfare Chair. The fund will allow the elderly and disabled UNWLA members, upon the recommendation of their Branch President and Regional Council, to retain their full membership sta tus and receive Our Life magazine. Each Branch will be asked to contribute $15.00 annually. 3/26/94 — Meeting of the Executive Committee. Noted: Financial Secretary Taissa Turiansky reported that a computerized accounting program was installed and mem bership lists of 78 branches thus far are computerized. UNWLA Social Welfare accep ted twelve sister-cities from the World Coun cil of Social Services of the World Congress of Ukrainians. Irena Russnak will be in charge of UNWLA’s social welfare program to Ukraine. Dr. Marta Bohachevsky-Chomiak proposed that the Kovaliw Literary Competi tion be extended to fall of 1994, with the purpose of awarding prizes during the con ference of the American Association for Ukrainian Studies, scheduled to be held in Philadelphia at that time. Olga Trytyak pro posed a contest for children and youth en titled “What Does the Word Family Mean to Me,” in honor of the Year of the Family. Olha Rudensky resigned from Our Life’s editorial board, while Martha Bohachevsky-Chomiak and Hanna-Halia Horbach joined the group. 5/7/94 — Meeting of the Executive Com mittee. Noted: The MRI project and the sub sequent trip to Ukraine of the president of UNWLA, the social welfare chair, Drs. Chrys tia Slywotzky and Ihor Sawchuk, were dis cussed. The President submitted a written report on her trip to Ukraine in March, and on the decision to donate the MRI to the Kyiv Clinincal Center of Trauma and Emer gency Medical Hospital, with the stipulation that Chornobyl victims receive priority treat ment. Representatives of General Electric Medical Services were of the opinion that the Center for Trauma is a more fitting environ ment for this equipment than the Neurologi 90 www.unwla.org
