BARBARA BACHYNSKY CORRESPONDING SECRETARY The 23rd Convention of the Ukrainian National Women’s League of America was held on May 29, 30 and 31, 1993 at the Newark Airport Marriott Hotel in New Jersey. A new slate of members to the National Board was elected, with Anna Krawczuk as president. Members of the Executive Com mittee were as follows: Olga Trytyak, first vice-president; Natalia Danylenko, second vice-president — membership; Dr. Martha Bohachevsky-Chomiak, third vice-president — cultural affairs; Iryna Kurowyckyj, fourth vice-president — public relations; Iwanna Hankewycz, recording secretary; Barbara Ba- chynsky, corresponding secretary; Roma Shu- han, treasurer; Taissa Turiansky, financial secretary; Lydia Bilous and Sophia Hewryk, members-at-large. Chairs: Luba Firchuk — Art and Museum; Oka Hrycak — Education; Lidia Czernyk — Social Welfare; Luba Bi- lowchtchuk — Scholarship Program; Helen Bobylak — Press. The Auditing Committee: Dr. Joanna Ratych, chair; Rosalie Polche and Maria Tomorug — members; Maria Dorozyn- sky and Lidia Ficalalowcych — alternates. In keeping with the resolutions of the 23rd Convention the following posts and vacancies on committees needed to be for med and filled: 1) a new By-Laws Committe in order to update the By-Laws of UNWLA, based on the changes ratified by three Con ventions; 2) a post for a parliamentarian for UNWLA; 3) an individual who would assume the responsibility for the UNWLA Archives needs to be found. In this reporting period the Executive Committee held 28 meetings, 18 being full- day meetings; in addition there were three annual meetings of the UNWLA National Board, as well as a Conference of the presi dents of Regional Councils with members of the National Board. 6/5/93 — The first post-Convention meet ing of the newly-elected Executive Commit tee with the Board’s outgoing members, with the purpose of transfer of duties. Priority action: 1) finding a solution to the deficit of Our Life magazine; 2) review all the organi zation’s funds and financial accountns by the Auditing Committee in order to have a comprehensive view of UNWLA’s finances; 2) review all the organization’s funds and finanical accounts by the Auditing Commit tee in order to have a comprehensive view of UNWLA’s finances; 3) explain and finalize the matter of creating the Lidia Burachynsky Fund, to which donations were given by Dr. Mary Beck and Halyna Pisecky-Kochanovsky. Marta Baczynsky, English language editor of Our Life resigned; The meeting of the Na tional Board will be held on October 16 & 17; The scope of activities for members-at-large on the Executive Committee was approved: Lidia Bilous with project Saber-Svitlo, Sophia Hewryk will assume the responsibility for UNWLA’s members-at-large. During the Annual Meeting of The Ukrai nian Museum of New York two new dele gates from UNWLAS became members of the Museum’s Board of Trustees: Anna Kraw czuk, as First Vice-President on the Execu tive Board; Luba Firchuk, as Board member. Olha Hnateyko, Iwanna Rozankowsky and Maria Tomorug who were UNWLA delegates to the Museum’s Annual Meeting, were named by the outgoing Executive Committee of UNWLA. On the Board of the UM are UNWLA members — Anna Alyskewycz, Lidia Bilous and Vera Shumeyko. 6/17/93 — Executive Committee Meet ing. Noted: The staff of the UNWLA office and the administration of Our Life is com prised of: Omelana Rohoza, Director of the office (full time), Natalia Duma, Administra tor of Our Life magazine (full time), Irena Chaban, Editor of Our Life (full time), Daria Naumko and Olena Klymenko (part time). Due to the fact that Anna Rak resigned on 6/11/93, her job will be temporarily handled by UNWLA Treasurer Roma Shuhan. Resolu tions of UNWLA’s 23rd Convention will be published in Our Life in the July/August issue in English and Ukrainian. 7/17/93 — Executive Committee Meet ing. Noted: The annual meeting of the Na tional Board will be held on October 16 & 17 at the Newark Marriott Hotel in New Jersey. Corresponding Secretary Barbara Bachynsky will prepare a bilingual questionnaire con cerning the 23rd Convention, which will be sent to all the delegates in order to obtain their views of the Convention.
