D. WORLD FEDERATION OF UKRAINIAN WOMEN’S ORGANIZATIONS Twice I participated in the meeting of the Board of Directors of the World Federa tion of Ukrainian Women’s Organizations (WFUWO) in Toronto Canada. On July 4,5, and 6, 1994, I reported on my trip to Paris, which took place in June 1994. At the invitation of Branch 90, Philadelphia, I spoke on the “International Year of the Child: What Exactly Does It Mean, What Work Has Been Done and How Does This Touch the Ukrainian Family Both Here and in Ukraine?” I informed the gathering about planned international conferences: World Conference on Population and De velopment, Cairo, Egypt; World Summit for Social Development, Copenhagen, Denmark, March 1995 (prepa ratory conference at the UN in New York, January 1995). 4th World Conference on Women, Beij ing, China. At the meeting of the National Council of Women in France in the United States, the issue of maintaining the environment was discussed. Klaus Nobel, Pre sident of United Land proposed to the NCW- USA and its member organizations and to the NCW chapter in New York, that they become active members of the defense of the globe, which is quickly deteriorating. I proposed that the UNWLA coopt a new chair for the “maintaining and cleaning of the en vironment.” Today, the environment is a very hot topic and the UNWLA cannot afford to be left behind. December 1, 1994. I participated in the celebration of the 40th anniversary of UNWLA Branch 64. As President of the NCW-USA, I greeted the celebration.. 67 www.unwla.org
