JAROSLAWA RUBEL THE PRESS AND PUBLICATIONS CHAIR I was appointed to fill the post of Press and Publications Chair at a meeting of the UNWLA Executive Board which was held on January 21,1995 and began my active partic ipation in Executive Board meetings in March of that year. My official duties during my term in office have included the attendance at all scheduled Executive Board meetings, participation at the March 31, 1995 and May 1, 1995 conferences of heads of regional councils, attendance at the October 21-22, 1995 UNWLA meeting held in New Jersey during which I headed the resolutions com mittee. As the UNWLA representive on the planning committee which was formed to plan and schedule events associated with President Leonid Kuchma’s visit to the Uni ted States, I was active in planning the ban quet which took place at the Waldorf Astoria on October 23, 1995. As ex oficio representative of the Na tional Board to the Editorial Board of Our Life, I reported on decisions and plans made at meetings of the National Board and wrote several articles which were published in the Ukrainian language section of the magazine: “The Convention”, “Women of the Year 1994”, and “Annual Conference of the UNWLA Na tional Board”. I was also instrumental in encouraging other authors to contribute ar ticles for the English language section of Our Life. As Press and Pubications Chair, I sent a newsletter to Branch press chairs and during my term I received reports from regional press chairs of Ohio, Detroit, New York and northern New York. I am pleased to report that press chairs have been fully cooperative in fulfilling their responsibilities. Articles about various branch events and activities have appeared in Svoboda, The Ukrainian Weekly and Our Life. I would have liked to present an overview of these articles as part of this report, but in light of the brevity of my term as Press and Publications Chair, such a report would have been rather limited and would not adequately reflect the wide scope of this work. Since December 1995, my work has been focused on collecting materials for the Com memorative Book to be presented at the UNWLA’s XXIVth Convention. 130 www.unwla.org
