Maria Kramarchuk was elected to head the Committee. In her address, Maria Savchak said that since Regional Council are the executive arm of the National Board, a Regional Council president is a member of the National Board and therefore represents the organization in her territory. These are important and serious functions. Based on the reports/analyses of branches given by Regional Council presi dents, it became evident that UNWLA has a shortage of younger members (ages 25-55). It was decided that regions must remedy this situation. The topics of panels to be held during the XXIII Convention was discussed at a separate meeting between the Executive Board and the panel committees. In May, a press and financial conference was organized by the Ohio Regional Coun cil, at which Press Chair Chrystyna Navrocky and Financial Secretary Marta Danyluk par ticipated. UNWLA branch 101 in Chicago will pur chase a $20,000 medical machine for the Children’s Hospital in Lviv. In June Ivanna Ratych represented the Executive Board at the 25th jubilee of UNWLA’s Scholarship Program, organized by the New Jersey Regional Council. During The Ukrainian Museum’s annual meeting in June, members of UNWLA Chrys tyna Shoh, Ilona Sochynsky and Luba Arty- myshyn became members of the Museum’s Board of Trustees. UNWLA was given a mandate by the World Congress of Free Ukrainians, one of the 175 mandates assigned by the WCFU to the World Forum of Ukrainians in Kiev in August, 1992 during the festive celebration of Ukraine’s first anniversary of independ ence. Maria Savchak participated in these historic events. Member-at-large Lidia Bilousou repres ented the UNWLA at the 80th jubilee cele bration of Plast. The Executive Board decided to accept the Convention book motto “Let Us Work Harder and Fight for a New Life” — the words of poetess Lesia Ukrainka. In addition to the standard convention book material, the edition of the forthcoming convention will contain reports of UNWLA members who represent UNWLA in cooperative projects with other organizations. The VI Congress of the WFUWO was held in November 1992 in Toronto. UNWLA was allowed 16 delegates. For the first time women in Ukraine, Poland, Rumania and Czechoslovakia took part in the event. Mem bers of UNWLA who were elected to WFU- WO’s new Board were: Natalia Danylenko, Second Vice President; Olha Stawnychy, Public Relations Chair; Chrystyna Navrocky, head of the Statutory Committee; Irena Rus- snak, Folk Art Chair; Olena Prociuk, member of the Auditing Committee. Oksana Sokolyk was elected President of the WFUWO. During the third meeting of the National Board in November 1992 many topics were discussed, reports heard and decisions made. The program for the XXIII Convention was finalized. Anastazia Kharysh, President of the Chicago Regional Council was called to head the Resolutions Committee. The Board decided to raise the subscription rate of OUR LIFE to $25/year beginning January 1,1993. The Executive Board of UNWLA is very grateful to the New York Regional Council for hosting all the meetings of the National Board and the conferences of the Presidents of Regional Councils. Maria Savchak in her capacity as Presi dent of UNWLA, is Vice President of the Board of Trustees of The Ukrainian Museum. As a member of the WFUWO M. Savchak is in the Presidium of the Secretariat of the WCFU and takes part in their meetings. UNWLA is a member of the National Council of Women of America from 1952 and each President of UNWLA is a member of the Board of the NCW. In 1991 Irena Kuro- wyckyj was elected First Vice President and Maria Tomorug Treasurer to the NCW. The President is Alicia Paolozzi.
