session with the chairs of the National Board to confirm the projects and programs of the XXII Convention. Dr. Iwanna Ratych was confirmed as the chairman of the Resolu tions Committee. Additional plans for the proposed conference “Ukrainian Woman in Two Worlds” was presented by Luba Sira and Oka Hrycak. All meetings of the National Board, as well as the conferences of the presidents of Regional Councils were held in New York. Hosting these meetings was the New York Regional Council with the cooperation of all branches. The Executive Board extends its heartiest thank you for their efforts. Maria Savchak, president of UNWLA, is by virtue of the fact vice president of the Board of Trustees of the Ukrainian Museum. UNWLA is a member of the National Council of Women of the United States since 1952 and every president of UNWLA is a member of the Board of NCW. Iryna Kuro- wyckyj, member at large of the Executive Board of UNWLA is the organization’s repre sentative to NCW, as well as being on the International Hospitality Committee. Since 1986 until 1989 Dr. Martha Bohachevsky- Chomiak was one of the four vice presidents of NCW. At the end of 1989 she was elected as first vice president and Iryna Kurowyckyj became a member of the Executive Board. Maria Savchak and Iryna Kurowyckyj attended a breakfast reception in November 1987 sponsored by a member organization of NCW, with the purpose of raising funds to prepare the 100 year commemorative cele brations of the International Council of Wo men and NCW. In March 1988 Maria Sav chak, Dr. Martha Bohachevsky-Chomiak and Maria Tomorug took part in the event "Wo men of Conscience.” In April 1988 Iryna Kurowyckyj attended a meeting dedicated to the planning of celebrations marking the 100 anniversary of the ICW and the NCW of U.S. From June 27 through July 4, 1989 the ICW and the NCW of U.S. held its 100 year commemorative celebrations in Washington, D.C. UNWLA sent three delegates to the international conference: Maria Savchak, Dr. Martha Bohachevsky-Chomiak and Iryna Ku rowyckyj. UNWLA was an active participant in the conference in the following ways: a) members of branch 78 of Washing ton were in charge of the registration for the Conference. Education chair of UNWLA Olha Trytiak worked as a vo lunteer, doing all sorts of administra tive chores. b) Dr. Martha Bohachevsky-Cho miak was a member of the committee on international matters and peace. c) UNWLA hosted a reception at the National Press Club which was attended by more than 400 persons. Branch 64 presented a parade of Ukra inian historical costumes. The reception was emceed by Dr. Martha Bohache vsky-Chomiak. d) The conference’s commemora tive book “Brilliant Vision — 1888-1988” had a page-long history of UNWLA. Holding the observer status at the con ference were Iwanna Rozankowsky, Dr. Iwan na Ratych and Olha Hnateyko. Maria To morug, Iryna Kushnir and Olha Trytiak were visitors. All delegates to the Conference received a brochure “History of UNWLA” in the English language which was prepared in Ukrainian by Iwanna Rozankowsky, translated into English by Marta Baczynsky and edited by Dr. Iwanna Ratych. In February 1989 the NCW sponsored an event to honor a “Woman of Conscience”. UNWLA was one of the five sponsors of this affair. Iryna Kurowycky who worked on the committee for this event, organized the pre sentation of the young Ukrainian bandurists “Homin Stepiv.” In June 1989, 12 young women were honored by the NCW for their achievements in their professions or communities. Lidia Chornyj, sponsored by UNWLA, was one of those so honored. Present at the event were Dr. Martha Bohachevsky-Chomiak, Maria Tomorug and Lesia Goy, president of NY Regional Council. The 98th Convention of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs was held in June 1989 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Maria Sav chak and Iryna Kurowyckyj attended the Convention, at which the president of UNWLA presented a short report about the work of our organization. They also distributed bro chures about the history of UNWLA and the Ukrainian Museum.
