BRANCH 72 — NEW YORK, N.Y. REGIONAL COUNCIL NEW YORK First Row: Stella Demey — membership and subscription to Our Life chairperson, Rosalie Polche — Treasurer, newly elected President for 1990, Olga Liteplo — President for 1989, Sophia P. Kotyk, Anne Malan — Vice-President. 2nd Row: Anne Bezkorowajny, Mary Dushnyck, Nadia Sawczuk — Vice-President from Regional Council who was present at the elections of new officers, Anne Wasylkow — recording secretary. 3rd Row: Nettie Jensen, Sonya Bodnar, Stella Ancar, Helen Prociuk, Tekla Husiak. 4th Row: Lilly Bochonko, Olga Kravitz, Mary Bodnar, Sonia Baron, Catherine Kozulak. It is understood that we should submit the achievements and activity reports of our Branch 72 New York City, during the past three years. We have survived a number of resignations from members due to relocation to other parts of United States. We have continued with our Annual Musicals presenting young talented people to the community and holding the out of town weekend Dinner-Dance. We have developed our programs with quality care from Mary Lesawyer. This was indicated by the success of our twenty-fifth anniversary Musical. A most substantial amount was realized and the amount of $5,100.00 was donated to the Ukrainian Museum Building Fund. As each year ends members have voted to add a large sum to this Building Fund. Members have given personal donation to the Children Medical Fund. A contribution was voted for the Lotosky Fund. All donations were in very respectable amounts. Several members and the Branch support students in Brazil. The foundation of Branch 72’s reputation has been established by the accomplishments of our members. Mary Lesawyer, one of the original founders, has seeked out the brightest young talented people for our Musicals. Rosalie Polche and Olga Liteplo are active with the National Headquarters and in the New York Regional Council respectively. Mary Dushnyck, the other co-founder, has been active with the National Council of Women and interested other members to join this organization. There is another member, Helen Pro ciuk, who has established a place for Ukrainian-Americans in the umbrella organization, SFUZO. The two mentioned organizations hold their meetings at the United Nations complex. All these activities and achievements play a important part in our goal of unity. We assess our accomplishments by the recognition that is given to Branch 72 for the voluntary participa tion at the Ukrainian Museum, Ukrainian-American community affairs and the quality and quan tity of our expression to all who have reached out to us. We have devoted time and money in all crucial moments for medical, religious, educational and human rights. It is obvious to all that we are functioning and making a tremendous effort to assist others to survive. Sophia P. Kotyk 161 www.unwla.org
