Clubs since 1935, the UNWLA has participated in their convention proceedings and interna tional conferences. This participation enabled the League to acquaint others of the culture and the plight of the Ukrainian nation. The UNWLA was instrumental in establishing the World Federation of Ukrainian Wo men’s Organization in 1948, and continues to play a significant role in its deliberations and policy making body. As an independent national women’s organization, the UNWLA partici pates in the congresses of the World Congress of Free Ukrainians. The League is constantly seeking to enlarge its membership and reaches out to today’s youth for its input if the organization is to thrive and continue its good works. Conferences relating to the concerns of the young women of today had been held and are being planned for the future by the UNWLA in different areas of the country. For the first time in its history, the League at its XX Convention will honor young Ukrain ian women who have achieved exceptional success in their chosen careers at an early age. Now on the threshold of the 60th anniversary of the Ukrainian National Women’s League of America, one can only reflect on the organization’s past achievements of our pioneer members who had the foresight to organize the UNWLA. It was because of their dedication and the determination of the members who followed that our organization has grown to such stature.
