BRANCH 60 REGIONAL COUNCIL OHIO M em bers seated are: Katherine Mural, M ary Thatcher — Pres., M ary Fedak — V. Pres.; standing are: Helen Shipka, Jennie B ochar — Treasurer, Nadia M olesky , M ildred DiPaola — Secretary. M em bers absent are: D orothy Everett — C ultural Chairman, Josephine H anigosky — Hostess and Stephanie Ulan Branch 60 lost many members for various reasons and was reduced to five who did not meet for almost a year. They then decided to re-organize, started meeting informally, sent out letters to recruit new members and placed announcements in local Ukrainian church bulletins. Five more members were gained, officers were elected and the branch then officially participated in the Regional Council meetings, Social Welfare and Com munications Seminars, “ Den Souzianky,” Christmas Bazaar, taught pysanky making and Ukrainian embroidery at High Schools, fairs and craft shops and on T.V. One member participated as a panelist at Cleveland State University on the Ethnic Woman, Past, Pres ent and Future in 1983 and another was instrumental in arranging for a grant to have Miss Martha Bohachevsky-Chomiak appear as the main speaker for the 1984 Conference on Ethnic Women. Members represent the Ukrainian community by membership and active participation in the following organizations: Nationalities Services Center (submitted Ukrainian recipes for their cookbook — Cooking with an International Flair), the Women’s City Club (which provides a forum for an exchange of ideas on political, educational, social problems, etc.), the Embroiderers Guild, The Citizens League of Greater Cleveland and the League of Women Voters. We hope to gain other members who will join us in these and other activities to pro mote Ukrainian culture and knowledge in both the Ukrainian and American communities. MARY L. THATCHER PRESIDENT THE MEMBERS OF UNWLA BRANCH 60 EXTEND SINCERE CONGRATULA TIONS AND BEST WISHES FOR A SUCCESSFUL CONVENTION 166 www.unwla.org
