НАШЕ ЖИТТЯ • Липень 2025 21 That Saturday, May 17, the Ukrainian Muse - um and the Shevchenko Scientific Society in the US co-hosted a daylong symposium celebrating Village to Modern . The event included insightful visual presentations by distinguished art historians Dr. Myroslava Mudrak, Oksana Semenik, and Dr. Alisa Lozhkina, who explored the transformative influence and lasting impact of Ukrainian folk art on the 20th century avant-garde, with its vibrant colors, geometric patterns, and unique symbols inspiring pioneering modernists like Kazimir Ma - levich and Alexandra Exter. A walkthrough of the exhibition with Museum director Peter Doroshen - ko and a closing roundtable discussion completed the daylong symposium. The event took place at both the Shevchenko Scientific Society and the Museum, in person and online. Symposium participants were treated to a tour of the exhibition led by Museum director Peter Doroshenko.
