НАШЕ ЖИТТЯ • Серпень 2025 3 Наталя Павленко Natalie Pawlenko Розповідаємо нашу історію — разом Наступного місяця, 14 вересня, ми зберемо - ся в Ню Йорку, щоб офіційно презентувати книгу «Сторіччя відданості: Історія Союзу Українок Америки (1925–2025)» — першу ґрунтовну хроніку нашої організації, автор - кою якої є союзянка д-р Марта Кічеровська Кебало. Ця книга — не лише данина мину - лому. Це подарунок майбутньому. Вона є гарантією того, що невтомна праця поколінь українсько-американських жінок не відійде у забуття. Занадто часто праця жінок — особливо в діяспорних громадах — залишається недо - оціненою. Ця книга виправляє таку неспра - ведливість. У ній вшановується мужність і бачення наших засновниць, сила наших Відділів і вільних членкинь по всій країні, а також тривалий вплив освітньої, культурної та гуманітарної діяльности волонтерок упро - довж десятиліть. Гортаючи сторінки кни - ги ми усвідомлюємо: історія — це не щось абстрактне. Ми творимо її самі — проєкт за проєктом, зустріч за зустріччю та нала - годженням окремих зв’язків. Але історія не завершується 14 вересня. Навпаки — вона лише починається. Я закликаю кожну округу, кожен відділ і кожну окрему членкиню розглянути мож - ливість організувати місцеву презентацію або читання книги цієї осені. Нехай це буде нагода позначити своє власне місце в нашій спільній історії. Зберіть своїх членкинь, за - просіть лідерів громади, привітайте нових друзів. Нехай ця книга стане мостом — між поколіннями, між минулим і майбутнім. Пам’ятаймо не лише жінок, які були до нас, але й гордо йдімо прокладеним ними шляхом та промовмо: ми все ще тут і ми досі будуємо. Разом ми пишемо наступний розділ — на - ступне сторіччя історії СУА. Telling Our Story — Together Next month, on September 14, we will gather in New York City to officially launch A Centu - ry of Commitment: The UNWLA Story (1925– 2025) — the first-ever comprehensive history of our organization, authored by Soyuzianka Dr. Martha Kichorowska Kebalo. This book is more than a tribute to the past. It is a gift to the fu - ture. It ensures that the tireless efforts of gen - erations of Ukrainian American women will not fade into silence. Too often, the work of women — especially in diaspora communities — is overlooked or un - dervalued. This book sets the record straight. It honors the courage and vision of our founders, the strength of our branches and members-at- large around the country, and the enduring im - pact of educational, cultural, and humanitarian work carried out by volunteers decade after decade. As we read its pages, we are remind - ed that history isn’t something abstract — it is something we make, one project, one meeting, one connection at a time. But the story doesn’t end on September 14. In fact, it’s just the beginning. I invite every Regional Council, branch, and member-at-large to consider hosting a local book launch or reading this fall. Use it as a mo - ment to celebrate your own place in our shared history. Gather your members, invite communi - ty leaders, welcome new friends. Let the book be a bridge — between generations, between the past and the future. Let us not only remember the women who came before us; let us also stand proudly in their footsteps and say: we are still here, and we are still building.
