2025 21 Branch 56 Holds End-of-Season Prayer Service With some 80 members, Branch 56 in North Port, FL, is the largest UNWLA branch. However, many members leave the area during the steamy Florida hurricane season for vacations or other residences. Members who remain end the season with a prayer service, which took place this year on June 3 at St. Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Church in North Port. The service included a moleben to honor the incredible work of current Branch 56 members and a panakhyda to honor the memory of branch members who have passed. Father Dmytro Kasiyan officiated and offered his complimentary words about the heroism of women and the hard work of Branch 56. After the service, participating members gathered for a group photo. They also filmed a short video to mark the UNWLA’s 100th anniversary this year. Branch 56 Vice President Lidia Bilous created the banner that members raised in the photos. Lunch followed at Anna Maria Oyster Bar in North Port for the members’ last meeting of the 2024–2025 season. The branch will reconvene in the early fall, but its committees have continued working over the summer months to plan many exciting projects. Patricia Zalisko , Press Secretary, Branch 56, North Port, FL Members enjoyed a luncheon after the prayer service. Photo: Rob Furmanek Some of the Branch 56 members who attended the prayer service.
