32 OUR LIFE • September-October 2024 Resolutions of the XXXIII Convention of the UNWLA On the occasion of the XXXIII Convention of the Ukrainian National Women’s League of America (UNWLA) we send greetings to: • The Hierarchy of the Ukrainian Churches in Ukraine and the Diaspora; • The American nation, the President of the United States, Joe Biden, and First Lady, Jill Biden; • The Ukrainian nation, The President of Ukraine, Vo- lodymyr Zelenskyy, and First Lady, Olena Zelenska; • Ukrainian women’s organizations throughout the world. We resolve to strengthen our efforts to advocate, educate, cultivate, and care, thus implementing the slogan of the XXXIII Convention of the UNWLA: “Heritage and Strength: We Advocate, Cultivate, Educate and Care! ” We call upon our membership to widely commem - orate the following: • In 2024-2025 – the 80th anniversary of Our Life magazine; • In 2024 - the 140th anniversary of the establish - ment of the women's movement in Ukraine; • In 2025 - the 100th anniversary of the UNWLA; • In 2026: - the 35th anniversary of Ukraine’s Independence; - the 50th anniversary of the establishment of The Ukrainian Museum by the UNWLA; - the 25th anniversary of 911 (September 11, 2001); • In 2027: - the 95th anniversary of the Holodomor; - the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the UNWLA Scholarship-Sponsorship program. We recommend that the Advocacy Chair: Strengthen the UNWLA Advocacy program by: 1. calling upon our membership to establish advo- cacy chairs at regional levels to oversee and devel- op our organization's advocacy capabilities at local levels; 2. encouraging Branches to commemorate Ukraine’s independence annually as a way to share, celebrate, and reinforce the spirit of Ukrainian Freedom in the United States; 3. encouraging Branches to co-ordinate at least one outreach event annually for the American commu- nity, such as: a. educational and cultural outreach: Ukraini - an book hour at a public library or a pysanka workshop at a local community center; b. gratitude-focused events within the commu- nity: cleaning up the park, organizing a blood drive, volunteering at a food bank; c. organizational outreach & community rep- resentation: joining with a non-Ukrainian or - ganization for a joint event, participating in a significant community event (parade, street fair, cultural fair); 4. encouraging Branch members to represent Ukraine and the UNWLA as delegates at the Ukraine Action Summit. Archives Chair: Strengthen the UNWLA Archival program by: 1. creating an instruction guide for document dig - itization; 2. conducting annual orientation and training for archivists and Branch/RC Presidents; 3. continuing to organize physical archives and dig - itize the most important archival materials at the national level, and encouraging Branches and Re - gional Councils to do the same; 4. creating content for a page on our website, "Ma- terials for the History of the Ukrainian Women's Movement; Biographies of Prominent Ukrainian Women;" 5. continuing the project "Video History of the UNWLA;" 6. continuing to cooperate with academics and mu- seums to disseminate information about UNWLA's history and achievements. Arts & Museum Chair: Strengthen our support of the Ukrainian Museum by: 1. continuing to organize Appreciation Days for UNWLA members at the Ukrainian Museum. 2. in cooperation with her counterparts at the Re - gional Council and Branch levels, ensuring that by the next Convention, at least 50% of the members of each Branch are also members of the Ukrainian Museum.
