НАШЕ ЖИТТЯ • Вересень-Жовтень 2024 3 Наталя Павленко Natalie Pawlenko The UNWLA recently held its XXXIII Convention, marking a historic return to in-person gather - ings after the disruption of the COVID pandem - ic. For the first time since the XXXI Convention in Tampa, Florida, delegates from across the country converged to celebrate the organiza - tion’s enduring legacy and to chart its future course. This convention was not just a meeting but a reaffirmation of the values, dedication, and sisterhood that define our organization. One of the most significant outcomes of the convention was the adoption of key changes to the bylaws. These amendments are crucial in ensuring that the UNWLA continues to op - erate effectively in an ever-changing world while staying true to its mission of promoting Ukrainian culture, education, and humanitari - an efforts. In addition to these important organizational updates, the convention served as a platform to recognize the exceptional work of our branch - es and individual members. Branches were honored for their outstanding contributions to their communities and the organization. Their tireless efforts in promoting Ukrainian herit - age and supporting Ukraine during these chal - lenging times have not gone unnoticed. Fur - thermore, we were proud to bestow the title of Honored Member upon several dedicated Soyuzianky. These women have shown extraor - dinary commitment and have played a pivotal role in the success and growth of the UNWLA. A highlight of this year’s convention was the presentation of the newly established Spirit of Ukraine award. This prestigious award was given to three distinguished individuals and organizations whose work has significantly im - pacted the Ukrainian community and beyond. The recipients serve as a reminder of the pow - er of dedication and resilience, and the unyield - ing spirit that the UNWLA embodies. We were also privileged to hear from the Ukrainian Ambassador to the United States, whose inspiring words reinforced the impor - tance of our work and the strong ties between Ukraine and its diaspora. The convention was not only a series of for - mal proceedings but also an opportunity for members to learn more about the organization, share experiences, and strengthen the bonds of sisterhood that make the UNWLA a unique and vibrant community. The UNWLA is where you belong. A Soyuzianka is who you are. Нещодавно Союз Українок Америки провів свою XXXIII Конвенцію, що ознаменувала історичне повернення до зустрічей наживо після пандемії COVID. Делеґати з усієї краї - ни з’їхалися, щоб вшанувати випробуваний часом доробок організації та окреслити її майбутній курс. Ця Конвенція була не просто зустріччю, але підтвердженням цінностей, відданості та сестринства, що визначають нашу організацію. Одним з найважливіших результатів Кон - венції стало прийняття стрижневих змін до Статуту. Ці поправки мають вирішальне значення для того, щоб СУА, залишаючись вірним своїй місії сприяння українській куль - турі, освіті та гуманітарним зусиллям, забез - печував ефективну діяльність організації у світі, який постійно змінюється. Окрім важливих організаційних онов - лень, Конвенція стала платформою для ви - знання виняткової роботи наших відділів та окремих членкинь. Відділи були відзначені за їхній видатний внесок у розвиток своїх громад та організації. Їхні невтомні зусил - ля з популяризації української спадщини та підтримки України в ці складні часи не зали - шилися непоміченими. Крім того, ми з гор - дістю надали звання «Почесних членкинь» кільком відданим союзянкам. Ці жінки під - твердили надзвичайну відданість справі та відіграли вирішальну роль у досягненні успі - хів і зростанні СУА. Головною подією цьогорічної Конвенції стала презентація новоствореної нагороди «Дух України». Цю престижну нагороду було вручено двом видатним особам та організа - ції, діяльність яких суттєво позначалася як на українській громаді, так і поза нею. Наго - роди є нагадуванням про силу відданости, стійкости та непохитности духу, які уосо - блює СУА. Ми також мали честь почути промову Посла України в США, чиї наснажливі слова підкреслили важливість нашої роботи і міцні зв’язки між Україною та її діяспорою. Конвенція не була лише формальним за - ходом з офіційними процедурами, її учас - ники мали можливість дізнатися більше про організацію, обмінятися досвідом і зміцнити сестринські зв’язки, що робить СУА унікаль - ною, енергійною та динамічною спільнотою.
