НАШЕ ЖИТТЯ • Травень 2024 19 nity — to lobby their elected officials to continue helping Ukraine prevail against the russian invasion. It is held twice a year in Washington, D.C. The first Summit was held in the fall of 2022, with some 60 advocates in attendance representing about 10 organizations. The spring 2024 Summit, by contrast, attracted more than 500 attendees from 47 states, represent - ing over 100 Ukraine-focused non-profit organizations and volunteers. This time, the organizing committee delivered everything people asked for. Many attendees had been asking for more opportunities to showcase the amazing work their organizations are do - ing and for more space for networking. The Summit arranged a separate exhi - bition space, where the UNWLA had its stand. It was a wonderful opportunity to catch up with old friends and partners, to meet new people, and to share more about the UNWLA and our almost centu - ry-long tradition of advocacy. The exhibition lasted two days, along - side expert panel discussions, keynote speeches, and advocacy training. The keynote speakers on Saturday night were Heath Mayo, founder of Principle First, a centrist conservative organization that is focused on preserving and promot - ing conservative principles in politics, and Col. Eugene Vindman, a Democratic can - didate for Congress from Virginia. Sunday morning’s true highlight was an interfaith prayer for Ukraine. For 90 minutes, prayers, speeches by Ukrainian evangelical leaders, and Christian songs filled the hearts of all present with a feel - ing of unity and belief in Ukraine’s victory. After the prayer, delegates transitioned to the training part of the Summit to learn more about advocacy tactics and the most current Ukraine-related legislative issues. Sunday also featured the keynote speech delivered by the Hon. Oksana Markarova, Ambassador of Ukraine to the U.S. On the periphery of the Summit, the UNWLA leadership team met with the Ambassador to discuss future projects and Some of the Soyuzianky who attended the 2024 Ukraine Action Summit. Led by UNWLA Member-at-Large Christina Tershakovets, participants said a Prayer for Ukrainian Children. Serhii Haidarzhy, a priest in the Ukrainian Baptist church who lost his wife and son in a russian strike on Odesa on March 2, 2024, spoke to the attendees via video.
