32 OUR LIFE • June 2024 ДІЯЛЬНІСТЬ ВІДДІЛІВ І ЧЛЕНКИНЬ • BRANCH & MEMBER NEWS Branch 56 Shares Ukrainian Culture with Florida Neighbors As they do every spring, the members of Branch 56 in North Port, FL, this year once again created presentations of Ukrain - ian culture for display cases in Charlotte and Sarasota County public libraries, borrowing from their own private collections to fill the cases with distinctive Ukrainian crafts, art forms, wood artifacts, traditional costumes, ceramics, jewelry, and literature. Slava Stefanyshyn, Branch 56’s cultural chairperson, ar - ranged for the displays in the two southwest Florida coun- ties. Her committee members created the following exhibits: ● North Port Public Library – Halya Lisnyczyj and Klara Szpiczka ● Port Charlotte Library – Roxolana Saciuk and sisters Ole- na and Leida Boyko ● Frances T. Bourne Jacaranda Public Library – Yara Litosch ● William H. Jervey, Jr., Venice Public Library – Lesia Popel, Neonillia Lechman, and Ksenia Rakowsky ● Elsie Quirk Public Library – Branch 56 president Inia Tun - stall and Orysia Zinych ● Selby Public Library – Olya Hron ● Fruitville Public Library – Bohdana Puzyk. The display cases prominently featured Ukrainian Easter eggs, or pysanky. Six of the library branches also hosted a Patricia Zalisko , Press Officer, Branch 56, North Port, FL free pysanka demonstration, conducted by Bohdana Puzyk, a skilled artisan and Branch 56 secretary. The demonstrations took place throughout March and April. Ms. Puzyk also offered a free pysanka workshop on March 30 at the Port Char - lotte Public Library, geared for children, but with adults also welcome. The work - shop quickly filled up, and the library maintained a waiting list. Branch 56 mem - bers Lesia Popel and Roxolana Saciuk as- sisted participants during the workshop. Frances T.
