Branch 118 in Houston, TX, marked this year’s Easter season by co-sponsoring two events with the city’s Pokrova Ukrainian Catholic Church, both of them at the Pokrova Parish Hall. On March 9, it was the Pysanka Egg-stravaganza, a well-attended pysanka-making class organized and taught by Martha Noukas, assisted by Olia Palmer. The workshop included a beautiful pysanka display and refresh- ments. Branch president Juliana Villacorta and member Shanya Gensior oversaw the entrance fees and the sale of pysanka supplies. Prizes were awarded for the best pysanka (in two age categories), and a wonderful time was had by all! On March 24, the branch co-sponsored the 44th annual Ukrainian Easter Bazaar, which featured delicious Ukrainian food, pastries, pasky, craft vendors, a raffle, and live music by the Forest Brothers Band. Martha Noukas served as Bazaar Chair, and Juliana Villacorta managed the Branch 118 craft table with help from Elisa Jackson. Christine Puzyk, Olha Hirka, and Sarah Uschak Milian oversaw pastry sales along with Shanya Gensior and Maria Laurenzi. Nadia Buchai, Tanya Lytvynchuk, and Svitlana Arroyo oversaw the sale of over 100 pasky baked by Evgenia Balaban, Martha Noukas, Slava Detsyk, Christine Puzyk, and Oksana Chaikoska. Jenny Martin sold raffle tickets, Halya Seniw and Nadija Sulyukmanov assisted in the kitchen, and Natalka Senkiv greeted attendees at the entrance. Proceeds from the annual event are directed toward UNWLA programs and Aid to Ukraine. Branch 118 members at the start of the Easter Bazaar.
