НАШЕ ЖИТТЯ • Червень 2024 21 Host a student for the holidays The Ukrainian students who are part of the Ukraine Global Scholars (UGS) program are not always able to go home to their families in Ukraine during school breaks. Christmas, Easter, and summer are times when UGS students may have to stay in the U.S., and this is when UNWLA members can lend a helping hand. This past Christmas, Branch 98 (Holmdel/Middletown, NJ) member Trish Zanellato and her husband hosted UGS student Andriyana Petrykevych for the Christmas and New Year holidays. Andriyana, from the Ternopil region, has an impressive resume: she is the winner of the All-Ukrainian olympiads in history; winner of city-level olympiads in geogra- phy, law, and biology; laureate of the Presidential Scholarship; deputy of the Youth City Coun - cil; participant in the Building Ukraine Together and Tilton School Community Service program; alumna of Agents of Change; and a theater actress, tennis player, and activist. “We absolutely loved hav - ing her stay with us,” recalls UNWLA host Trish. “But most important, she is a warm and charming individual with a pas - sion for her home country.” Please look for opportunities to host UGS students in the UNWLA newsletter.
