НАШЕ ЖИТТЯ • Грудень 2024 29 Photo: Barbara Carson Kolomeyka Dance Ensemble dancer presenting Olena Papiz with a bouquet of flowers; standing is Natalia Maruszczak. ket to the raffle, which included a Tea for Two Ann Arbor Tea Haus gift card, Slava Ukraini tea, South African Rooibos tea, assorted tea bags, a tea strainer, two hand-crafted ceramic teacups, a motanka doll, a hand-embroidered runner, hand-drawn note cards, and home - made spoon cookies. The proceeds from the gift basket raffle will go toward a Domivka repair fund and UNWLA humanitarian aid. Fun fact: Detroit happens to be the only region in the United States to own its headquarters building. Branch 50 was fortunate to have three of our treasured members, Oksana Ohar, Olena Papiz, and Daria Rothe, honored for over 50 years of service and their many contributions. A young man from the Kolomeyka Dance En - semble presented them with flower bouquets. We all felt proud to be part of such an impres - sive group of accomplished women. The Ukrainian Cultural Center in Warren was festively decorated with the hues of fall. Table centerpieces overflowed with orange, purple, and yellow carnations, roses, and gerbera dai - sies, as well as grapes, apples, and multi-color - ed fall gourds. Four fleet-footed young men from the Kolomeyka Dance Ensemble served beverag - es, such as citrus-flavored water, wine, tea, and coffee. Lunch was delicious and ample, guaranteeing no one would go home hungry. Tantalizing sweet treats were provided by each branch. The event concluded with the gift basket raf - fle and a folk song sing-along. Such complex harmonies in impromptu singing were impres - sive. And no Ukrainian event is complete with - out singing! Soyuzianky work tirelessly with an unwaver - ing commitment to advocacy, remembrance, and cultural appreciation. From celebrations of Ukraine’s Independence Day to raising awareness about the Holodomor, the UNWLA demonstrates its dedication to serving both the Ukrainian community here and in Ukraine and fostering meaningful relationships with elected officials to advocate for Ukraine.
