UNWLA.ORG 29 PATRICIA ANN MOKRYCKI Patricia Ann Mokrycki, 60, of Palm Harbor, Florida, passed away on Sunday, April 19, 2020, from injuries sustained in a car accident. The daug hter of the late Stefan and Alice (Gurbe l) Mokrycki, Patricia was born in Hartford, Con necticut, on Sunday, July 12, 1959, and lived in Hartford until 1972 when she moved with her parents and brother to Wethersfield, Con- necticut. In 2012, Patricia moved to Palm Harbor, Florida, to be closer to r elatives. Patricia was a parishioner of St. Mi chael Ukrainian Catholic Church in Hartford since child- hood and a member of the church’s Sacred Heart Guild. She attended St Michael Ukrainian Paro- chial School in Hartfo rd and was an active member of Hartford’ s Ukrainian National Home, the Ukrainian Congre ss Committee of America (UCCA), the Women’s Association for Defense of Four Freedoms for Ukraine (WADFFU), and the Ukrainian American Youth Association (CYM). She was al so a member of UNWLA Branch 124 in St. P etersburg, Florida. A graduate of Wethersfield High School (class of 1978), Patricia worked for many years at The Travelers Insurance Company and United Healthcare in Hartford. Most recently, she was employed as a Tr ust Associate at Family Network on Disab ilities in Palm Harbor, Florida. From March 21 , 2010 until May 25, 2014, Patricia served as the Trustee of St. Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Church in Hartford, during which time she was instrumental in organizing th e 2011 centennial celebration of the par ish. Patricia was also a member of the Organizi ng Committee of the 1985 Ukrainian Youth for Christ Convention held in Stamford, Connecticut. After moving to Florida in 2012 , Patricia became a parishioner of Epiphany of Our Lord Ukrainian Catholic Church in St. Petersburg. In 2016, she became a member o f the Ukrainian Na- tional Women’s League of America, Branch 124 in St. Petersburg , Florida. Patricia was devoted to her faith, family and friends. She donated her time an d energy to the local and Ukrainian comm unities and was al- ways willing to lend a helpin g hand, whether to prepare Easter baskets for the elderly or collect and process donations for orphanages in Ukraine or support youth and women’s association activi- ties or volunteer at annual Church Festivals and holiday celebrations in Connecticut and Flo rida. As a member of UNWLA Branch 124, she was al- ways willing to lend a helping hand by supporting branch events and activities and heading Branch 124’s Technology Commi ttee. Patricia leaves behind her brothe r, Ste- phen of Auburndale, Florida; nieces Steph anie and Elizabeth and nephews Michael and Daniel in the Hartford, Connecticut area; many cousins and close friends in Connecticut, Florida, and Ukraine; and her UNWLA f riends to cherish her memory. A 40 th da y memorial mass was held on Thursday, May 28, 2 020, at St Michael Ukrainian Catholic Church in Hartford, Connecticut, and at Epiphany of Our Lord Ukrainian Catholic Church in St. Petersburg. Eternal Memory. __________________ __________________________ Our Cover Art ist Irma Osadsa was born in Erlangen, Germany, in 1949, into a Ukrainian family and immigrated to the United States in 1 963. She earned her BFA from the Cleveland Institute of Art and her MFA from the Yal e School of Art, where she studied with Al Held and Lester Johnson. Working in various painting and draw- ing media, she often uses symbols appropriated from the folk art of her Ukrainian background to create representations of what is unseeable or immateria l or has pa ssed into memory. Her work has been show n in Canada, the U.S., and Ukraine, including at solo exhibitions at the Ukrainian Institute of Modern Art (Chicago), Ro tunda Gallery (Kitchener), and Mather Gallery (Cleveland). She has received an Ontari o Arts Coun cil grant and several exhibition awards. She lives and works in Toronto and serves as secretary of The Association of Visual Artists of Canada.
