It was a day to get together, enjoy lunch, and celebrate our solidarity and friendship. Oksana Hlado , a member of Branch 128 who served as a very congenial Mistress of Ceremonies, warmly welcomed the Soyuzianky and their g uests. Pastor of St. Michael the Archangel Ukrainian Catholic Church, Father Volodomyr Kostyuk, gave his personal fond reflections of CYA as well as his blessings. Ms. Hlado introduced Dr. Larysa Zaika, president of the Philadelphia Okruha, who extended he r greetings and Iryna Buczkowski, UNWLA National Board Secretary, who keeps everyone abreast of what’s going on in CYA on Facebook. M usical entertainment was provided by the delightful and talented children from the Philadelphia branch of the Ukrainian In stitute of Music and Art under the direction of Halyna Bodnar and the LL Silver String Music Studio whose director is Larysa Odlyvansk a. The children, many attired in exquisite vyshyvanky , entertained the Soyuzianky with their singing or by playing the vio lin or piano. Completing the program was Irina Vasylevska, a member of Branch 128, who enchanted the audience with a beautiful medley of songs. After the program, guests enjoyed a delicious luncheon with an assortment of homemade desserts baked by the Soy uzianky themselves. Branch 43 provided each guest with a collection of poems titled Za- hublene Namysto , authored by Anna Maksymowych, the late past president of Branch 43. Thanks to Lesya Yarychkivska, special linen tote bags with various Ukrainian motifs w ere created so recipients could easily hold and carry the books. Halyna Henhalo, chairperson for the XXXII UNWLA Conven tion, invited everyone to attend the convention , w hich will be held September 25 to September 27, 2020 , at the Sheraton Valley Forge Hot el in King of Prussia, Pa.
