“НАШЕ ЖИТТЯ”, ЛИСТОПАД 2018 WWW. UNWLA .ORG 31 ДІЯЛЬНІСТЬ ВІДДІЛІВ СУА “Plugging” A ll Things Ukrainian by Marianna (Szczawinsky) Crans Br 95 Ladies and Display For the pas t five years now, Branch 95 (Mid Hud- son Valley Region, New York) members have been participants in the Kingston Multicultural Festival, an event where various ethnic groups of the area come together to share their respective cultures, crafts, food, music a nd dance in a free event that focuses on family and especially children. The fes- tival is sponsored by the Reher Center for Immi- grant History and Culture, a center that was estab- lished to explore the international history of King- ston. The event occurs on th e first Sunday in June and, weather permitting, is celebrated at the T. R Gallo Park at Kingston’s historic waterfront and former center of commerce. As participants, we have shared our history, culture, art forms, and sampling of our food with others at t his annual event and have been fortunate enough to have the amazing Tsvitka Ukrainian Dance Ensemble under the direction of professional dancer Andrij Cybyk perform and amaze the crowds. During these events we have presented col- orful displays on our cultu re and have featured children’s cultural activities, a requirement for all the cultural displays and tents. There have been many other multicultural performers and par tici- pants at this event: Native American, Latino, Scot- tish, Irish, German, African, Asia n Indian, Chi- nese, Greek, Italian, Jewish and most recently Gos- pel and Hip Hop!
