UNWLA .ORG 3 “Seeds of Hope” – Zhytomyr; Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur (right of banner), Olya Onyshko, filmmaker and steering committee member (left of UNWLA poster) Shortly after the 62 nd CSW session came to a close, the UNWLA became interested and in- volved in a project entitled “Seeds of Hope.” This initiative, begun by Congresswoman (Ohio) Marcy Kaptur, who is a solid and ever - true supporter of Ukraine, held ceremonial and symbolic s eed plant- ings at selected sites in Ukraine in order to shine a light on rural women and served as a symbolic call to action for expanded efforts. The goal was to give hope and recognition to Ukrainian women villag- ers whose efforts feed their communities, t o begin to improve their production capabilities through educational outreach and to introduce basic new concepts. In connection with this, a training forum was held at the National Zhytomyr Agroecological University, which drew over 200 people. The main t opics of the speakers at this event were best prac- tices, leveraging simple technologies, and how to create cooperatives. This was a first step of the broader vision: partnering with Ukrainian women farmers and Ukrainian agencies in order to em- power Ukraini an rural women. The UNWLA has agreed to become a member of the “Seeds of Hope” steering committee. We wish all our Mothers, Grandmothers, Godmothers, Aunts and all women who serve as encouraging role models to us a very happy and peaceful Mother’s Day! Христина поділилася цією сумною новиною з нами, цитуючи перший рядок вірша - пісні, що ви можете прочитати нижче. Цей вірш був особливо зворушливим для мене та інших друзів Христі, які вже втратили найдорожче — своїх матерів. Він навіяв нам спогади про ті ж ертви, на які заради нас йшли наші матері протягом усього свого життя. На честь цих спогадів і на вшанування Дня матері дозвольте мені поділитися з нашими читачами віршем - піснею «Мамині руки цілую» (слова: Н. Погребняк; музика: О. Янушкевича). Мамині ру ки цілую... Скільки у них теплоти! Рук , що добріші й ніжніші , Більше мені не знайти. Лагідні, щирі, ласкаві Руки, пошерхлі в труді. Мамині руки цілую Рідні й завжди молоді. Мамині очі цілую, Що не доспали ночей. Скільки любові плекає Погляд чарівних очей! Сльози, пролиті за мене, Болі й тривоги у них... Мамині очі цілую, Що найдорожчі за всіх. Мудрі вуста я цілую, Що колискові мені Тихо в дитинстві співали... Зараз їх чую вві сні. Молиться мама за мене, Щастя благає в путі. Будьте здорові, матусю! Ви – моє ща стя в житті.
