“НАШЕ ЖИТТЯ”, ВЕРЕСЕНЬ 2017 WWW.UNWLA.ORG 7 Resolutions of the XXXI Convention of the UNWLA On the occasion of the XXXI Convention of the Ukrainian National Women’s League of America (UNWLA), we send greetings to: The Hierarchy of the Ukrainian churches in Ukraine and the Diaspora The American nation, the President of the United States, Donald Trump, and First Lady Melania Trump The Ukrainian nation, the President of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko, and First Lady Maryna Po- roshenko Ukrainian women’s organizations throughout the world We resolve to implement the slogan of the XXXI Convention of the UNWLA “Our membership— our strength!” We call upon our membership to widely commemorate: The 85 th anniversary of the Ukrainian Holodomor of 1932–1933, the genocide of the Ukrainian nation (2017 and 2018) The 100 th anniversary of the proclamation of the Ukrainian National Republic (Nov. 20, 2017) The 150 th anniversary of the founding of “Prosvita,” the cultural-educational organization that was at the center of the rebirth of the Ukrainian national spirit and the enrichment of Ukraine’s cultural herit- age (2018), The 70 th anniversary of the Aktsia Visla and to disseminate information on the arrests of dissidents in Ukraine and celebrate the 50th anniversary of our lost artist and “sixties” dissident, Alla Horska. We encourage the membership of the UNWLA to commemorate: The 125 th anniversary of the birth of Milena Rudnytska, journalist, writer and one of the founders of the Ukrainian women’s movement (July 15, 2017) The 100 th anniversary of the battle near Kruty (Jan. 29, 2018) The 150 th anniversary of the birth of Olena Kysilevska, prominent socio-political activist, writer, and the first head of the World Federation of Ukrainian Women’s Organizations (WFUWO) (March 24, 2019) The 125 th anniversary of the birth of Olena Lototska, cofounder and longtime head of the UNWLA (2019) The 70 th anniversary of the WFUWO We recommend that Membership Chair: 1. Continue the campaign of “Replenishing and strengthening UNWLA membership” at the Branch and Regional Council levels as well as amongst members-at-large. 2. Encourage members, at the dissolution of a branch, to join other branches or become members- at-large. Strengthen the cooperation amongst branches, regional councils, the liaisons for branches-at- large and the chair of members-at-large. 3. Encourage women who reside far from a branch to join the UNWLA as members-at-large. 4. Focus on the problem of UNWLA membership retention and preservation through exit interviews and interviews of those who have rejoined. 5. Request that Branches and Regional Councils update their membership lists. Arts/Museum Chair: 1. Work with the Regional Councils to encourage all of their UNWLA members to become members of the Ukrainian Museum in New York. 2. Inform members about the activities of the Ukrainian Museum. 3. Request all UNWLA members to consider bequeathing their personal art collections and/or finan- cial gifts to the Ukrainian Museum in New York. 4. Inform UNWLA members that the Ukrainian Museum gift shop will gladly accept articles of Ukrainian art that are not necessarily of museum quality.
