6 WWW. UNWLA.ORG “НАШЕ ЖИТТЯ” , ЖОВТЕНЬ 201 As soon as the official “lazy, hazy days of summer” came to an end with Labor Day w eekend, the UNWLA and community activities moved ahead. During the weekend of September 8 – 10, the new- ly voted in National Board of the UNWLA met for its first annual meeting at Soyuzivka, the UNA estate in Kerhonkson, New York. The agenda in- cluded many very important topics for review but also encouraged the newly elected members to offer their ideas. Friday evening’s meeting re- viewed each member’s role within the UNWLA organ ization but invited each person to present her personal vision and plans. The results were very stimulating. Each of the presenters (Lidia Jachnycky, first VP; Nadia Nynka, Public Rela- tions, VP; Mariya Andriyovych, Officer at Large; Lyudmyla Hrabovsky, Cu ltural Affairs Chair; Oksana Lodziuk, Social Media Chair; Tetyana Bedrus, Education Chair; Natalia Pawlenko, Arts & Museum Chair; Olha Drozdowycz, Archives) offered her ideas and suggestions with palpable enthusiasm. Attendees then welcomed UNWLA Honorary Presidents Anna Krawczuk and Iryna Kurowyckyj, who greeted the new Board and shared their experiences and advice. Financial issues and the 2018 budget were presented by UNWLA Financial Secretary Vera Kushir and were discussed and voted on. Follow- ing this, the two most important topics on the agenda were tackled: membership and plans for future UNWLA projects.
