Beautifully hosted by Luba Bilowchtchuk at her home in Matawn, N.J., branch members met and reelected current president Nadia Jaworiw to another term. Other members of our current exec- utive board include Vice President Halia Lojko, Secretary Irene Krawczuk, Treasurer Luba Bilowchtchuk, Scholarship Chair Victoria Mischenko, Audit Chair M. Orysia Jacus, and Museum Chair Natalia Pawlenko. This past year, Branch 98 sponsored two well-attended events: in May, we hosted a screening of the film Freedom or Death with a presentation by the filmmaker, Damian Kolodiy; in October, we hosted a multi-media program entitled “Heart on Fire: Folk Art from Ukraine,” which focused on Ukrainian Pet- rykivka art by art collectors Natalia Pawlenko and Iouri Michtchenko. Branch 98 actively supports the UNWLA scholarship program through sponsorship of students; five of our branch members serve on the Scholarship Standing Committee. Our branch also supported the festival at the Cultural Center in Whippany by providing an array of delicious baked goods and volunteer- ing at the event. At our February meeting, Branch President Nadia Jaworiw thanked Halyna Jakubowycz and Luba Bilowchtchuk for hosting Christmas fundraisers, which were a joyous opportunity to connect with other branch members during the holiday season. She also thanked M. Orysia Jacus for hosting the Branch 98 Annual Picnic. At the conclusion of the meeting, New Jersey Regional Council President Ksenia Rakowsky and the Regional Council Vice President Olia Basarab-Ponos congratulated Branch 98 on a fruitful year and wished members continued success.
