We wish you good health and God’s blessings this Father’s Day and always! Cover Artist: Sonia Delaunay Sonia Delaunbay was born in Odesa, Ukraine, in 1885. From age five, after the death of both parents, she lived with her uncle’s family in St. Petersburg. She attended school in Karlsruhe (1903–1904), continuing her art studies at the Académie de la Palette in Paris. Her work was first formally exhibited in 1908 at the Notre-Dame des Champs gallery. With her husband Robert, Sonia developed Simultanism and Orphism 1912–1913, stylistic genres that later became the underlying principles for her work in applied design, par- ticularly in fashion and interiors. Her work in fashion developed rapidly during the 1920s, and this led to opening her own fashion salon with J. Heim in 1924. She exhibited widely in group and solo shows, as well as in joint shows with her husband. Her work was exhibited at Der Sturm (solo, 1913, 1920, 1921); at the International Exhibition of Decorative Art, Paris (1925); in the Stedelijk Museum (with Robert, 1938); and in the Musée National d’Art Moderne, Centre Pompidou (1967–1968), among many other venues in France and abroad. The artist died in Paris in 1979. Наша обкладинка Соня Делоне народилася в Одесі 1885 р., померла 1979 р. у Франції, де провела більшу частину свого життя. Від п’яти років жила в Санкт-Петербурзі в сім’ї свого дядька після смерти батьків. Вчилася спершу в Німеччині в Карлсруе (1903-1904), а далі в Парижі в Академії Ла-Палетт. Перша виставка відбулася в ґалерії Notre-Dame des Champs 1908 р. Разом з чоловіком Робером Делоне в 1912-1913 рр. сформувала течії симультанізм та орфізм, котрі згодом стали підґрунтям для її роботи в дизайні, насамперед одягу та інтер’єру. У 1920-х рр. її активність в галузі моди різко зросла й завершилася відкриттям власного бутіку з Ж. Гаймом у 1924 р. Широко виставлялася на колективних та персональних виставках, а також разом з чоловіком Робером. Її твори були представлені на виставках «Der Sturm» (персональні 1913, 1920, 1921), на Міжнародній виставці декоративного мистецтва 1925 р., у музеї Stedelijk (разом з Робером, 1938); в музеї National d’Art Moderne (Центр Помпіду, 1967-1968) та в багатьох інших мистецьких центрах у Франції та ін. країнах. У 2015 році картини Соні Делоне були представлені на виставці «Українська діяспора: художниці, 1908 – 2015» в Українському музеї в Ню Йорку.
