“НАШЕ ЖИТТЯ”, ГРУДЕНЬ 2016 WWW.UNWLA.ORG 9 Representing the UNWLA at US-Ukraine Foundation Event in Washington, D.C. by Roksolana Misilo, UNWLA Vice President for Public Relations Roksolana Misilo (second from left) with representatives of the Free Russia Foundation, the Ukrainian Feder- ation of America, the Center for U.S.-Ukrainian Relations, and the Joint Baltic American National Committee). It was my honor to represent the UNWLA at the US-Ukraine Foundation and Friends of Ukraine Network’s “Initiating Dialogue with the Next President of the United States,” which took place at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., on Tuesday, October, 25, 2016. This event was held during a nationwide, grass- roots advocacy campaign (of which the UNWLA was a partner) in support of Ukraine, directed at presi- dential and congressional candidates during the week of October 23–29. The event comprised eight pan- els: 1. Roadmap for the next President of the United States 2. New Realities: Redefining U.S. Strategy toward Russia and Ukraine 3. Sanctions: A Tool for Confronting Putin’s War in Ukraine 4. Amb. Melanne Verveer, Senior Advisor to the Clinton-Kaine Campaign, surrogate for former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton 5. Fighting Corruption, Supporting Reformers 6. Sounding the Alarm for Ukraine, Europe, and Russia [I took part in this panel] 7. Kremlin’s Propaganda War Old Playbook, New Methods, Weaponization of Information 8. Gov. Bob Ehrlich of Maryland, Senior Advisor to the Trump-Pence Campaign, surrogate for Mr. Trump. The guest speakers were heavy hitters, former ambassadors, think-tank members, senior fellows, research fellows, university professors, directors, principals, and so on. Everyone spoke eloquently, knowledgably, and briefly on their assigned panel topics. A few of my favorite quotes in different contexts were notewor- thy and memorable: “Ukraine is not Las Vegas. What happens in Ukraine does not stay in Ukraine . . . there are implications to all countries.” (Amb. Yakobashvili, Georgia’s ambassador to the United States from 2011 to 2013 and founder and president of the New International Leadership institute). Ô
