Nadiya Savchenko’s lawyers on December 9th at the Ukrainian Museum. They shared interesting information with us, which is reported on in this issue of Our Life . They also said that Lt. Nadiya Savchenko was uplifted by our let- ter to her and wanted to respond to us. It is with great pleasure that I am forwarding the letter from Lt. Nadiya Savchenko that we just received. Our next important job will be a letter campaign on behalf of Lt. Nadiya Savchenko, demanding POW status for her. According to the 1949 Geneva Convention, POW status requires that the prisoner be treated humanely in all circumstances; in particular, with this status Lt. Nadiya Savchenko would be pro- tected against murder, torture, as well as cruel, humiliating, or degrading treatment. Як вам відомо, 9 грудня 2014 р. в Українському Музеї в Ню Йорку відбулася зустріч членів СУА з двома адвокатами лейтенанта Надії Савченко. Вони поділилися з нами цікавою інформацією, яку ви можете знайти на ст.3 в цьому числі “Нашого Життя”. Вони також сказали, що л-т Надія Савченко отримала листа підтримки від СУА і хоче дати від- повідь. З великою приєм- ністю подаю листа від л-та Надії Савченко, якого ми щойно отримали. Наш наступний важливий крок – це кам- панія написання листів з вимогою надати Надії Сав- ченко статус військовопо- лоненої. Згідно Женев- ської Конвенції від 1949 р., такий статус вимагає гід- ного ставлення до полоне- ного за будь-яких обста- вин; зокрема, цей статус захистить Надію від вбив- ства, тортур, а також від жорстокого чи принизли- вого ставлення. Статус військовополоненої також дасть підставу адвокатам Надії Савченко вимагати її звільнення згідно поло- жень Женевської Конвен- ції. Роксоляна Місило, заступниця голови зі справ зв'язків.
