“НАШЕ ЖИТТЯ”, ГРУДЕНЬ 2015 WWW.UNWLA.ORG 17 Ukrainian artist Lydia Bodnar- Balahutrak, one of the featured artists at the Ukrainian Museum in NY, shares her works in a slide presentation. _______________________ Lydia Bodnar-Balahutrak spoke eloquently about her solo ex- hibit at the Ukrainian Museum which featured works inspired by the Holodomor. Lydia’s husband, Michaelo Balahutrak, projected im- ages of her more recent collection, “The Nests,” on a screen, while she conveyed the messages embedded within each piece. Lydia invited eve- ryone to the exhibit in New York and to her upcoming solo exhibit to be held at the Lonestar College in Kingwood, Texas. Artist Juliana Dankowich was then invited to the podium to share her work. Juliana displayed one of her oil paintings on an easel. She talked about her education and her inspiration for paint- ing. Chrystia Bryndzia then invited Martha Noukas, Branch 118 President from 2000 to 2014, to talk about the achievements of Branch 118. Mar- tha Noukas recalled the many projects completed by Branch 118 and thanked the membership for their dedicated and continued support throughout the years. She presented Halyna Seniw with a plaque for her assistance and service as Social Welfare Representative and Branch Treasurer from 2000 to 2014. Martha Noukas also presented a large bouquet to Eugenia Balaban for overseeing the preparation of food for the annual Easter Ba- zaars. Each member of the branch received flowers and a certificate of gratitude for volunteerism and service, as well as a new black apron bearing the UNWLA logo. All of the men who were invited to the cel- ebration were thanked for their contributions and support to the women of UNWLA Branch 118. They were each awarded a beautifully wrapped bottle of wine. Chrystia Bryndzia invited everyone to en- joy the desserts and thanked everyone for coming to the event, despite the pouring rains. The even- ing was very enjoyable... and a memorable UN- WLA celebration! Martha Noukas, Branch 118 Treasurer ________________________________________________________ УЧАСТЬ 124-го ВІДДІЛУ СУА, САНКТ-ПЕТЕРБУРҐ, ФЛОРИДА У ФЕСТИВАЛІ НАРОДНОЇ ТВОРЧОСТИ У парку Віной, що в Санкт-Петербурзі, штат Флорида, 29 жовтня 2015 року розпочав- ся 41-ий щорічний інтернаціональний фести- валь народної творчости (SPIFF – Saint Peters- burg International Folk Fair). Перших два дні свято відвідали одинадцять тисяч студентів молодшого та старшого віку, а в суботу та не- ділю фестиваль був відкритий для публіки. Щороку організація фестивалю надає можливість учасникам продемонструвати свою культуру, мистецтво та звичаї. Сотні гос- тей мали змогу побачити та ознайомитись з культурою інших народів світу, намилуватись їхнім етнічним вбранням, спробувати страви різної національної кухні. Не пропустила такої нагоди і наша діяспора. На свято прибула велика кількість українців з різних реґіонів Флориди: Пайнелас каунті, Гілсборо, Паско та Сарасоти. Уздовж мальовничого узбережжя зато- ки Тампи розташувалися тридцять сім шатер представників різних народностей світу. Різно- барвні прапори майоріли над кожним шатром, означаючи свою країну. Шатро України було розміщене у самому серці фестивалю. Поруч розмістилися перуанці, греки, колумбійці, іта- лійці, венесуельці та багато інших. Треба відзначити величезну працю нашої громади.
