October 3 Zoriana Haftkowycz, UNWLA Com- munications Secretary, represented the UNWLA at the Ukrainian American Veterans monument dedi- cation in Bound Brook, N.J. UNWLA Communications Secretary Zoriana Haftkowycz at the dedication of the Ukrainian American Veterans Monument. October 11 Ohio Regional Council celebrated the UNWLA’s 90th anniversary. Their guest of honor was the President of the Ukrainian Museum in New York City, Dr. Renata Holod. October 16-18 UNWLA National Board meeting, 90th Anniversary celebratory banquet, and open- ing of the exhibit, The Ukrainian Diaspora: Wom- en Artists 1908–2015 , at the Ukrainian Museum in honor of our organization’s 90th anniversary (please see the 11/2015 issue of Our Life ). October 25 UNWLA Detroit Regional Council celebrated the 90th anniversary of the organization and the 80th anniversary of the Regional Council. President Marianna Zajac traveled to Michigan to share this happy event with the Regional Council members. The event was warm, celebratory, and filled with camaraderie. October 11, 2015. Ohio Regional Council celebrates the UNWLA’s 90th anniversary. October 25 UNWLA Philadelphia Regional Council celebrated the 90th anniversary of the UNWLA with a gala fashion show showcasing the “Vyshyvanka Couture” trademark line of Ukrainian designer Oksana Karavanska. UNWLA Secretary Iryna Buczkowski and member-at-large Mariya Andriyovych represented the UNWLA Executive Board at this event. November 1 The Ukrainian Catholic University held its annual New York fundraiser at the Roose- velt Hotel; Vice President for Culture, Sofia Hew- ryk, represented the Executive Board. The UNWLA has an ongoing relationship with UCU through its Women’s Studies Lectureship. November 6 - 8 Holodomor Memorial Dedication in Washington, D.C. Many representatives of the UNWLA participated in this historic event. The UNWLA is a member of the U.S. Holodomor Committee, and Vice President Roksolana Misilo organized the volunteers for this three-day event. November 9 At a press conference at the Nation- al Press Club in Washington, D.C., representatives of the All-Ukrainian Council of Churches and Reli- gious Organizations in Kyiv—Ukraine’s Chief Rab- bi Yaakov Dov Bleich, Ukrainian Orthodox Patri- arch Filaret (Denysenko), and Ukrainian Catholic Patriarch Sviatoslav Shevchuk—discussed the cur- rent humanitarian crisis and their appeal (made earlier that morning) to President Obama to allow the National Guard Program and the Partnership for Peace Program to airlift crucial humanitarian supplies to Ukraine for the upcoming winter sea- son. UNWLA President was invited to attend this event by U.S.-Ukraine Foundation President Nadia McConnell. The National Press Club in Washington, D.C. Press con- ference with the representatives of the All-Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations. November 15 UNWLA President had the pleas- ure of attending a literary afternoon held by New York Branch 64 and dedicated to the 160th anni- versary of the birth of the writer and founder of the Ukrainian women’s movement in Ukraine, Natalia Kobryns’ka. With their readings and music, the performers brought to life the story of this dedicat- ed and driven woman. Christmas is the season to wish one another joy, love, and peace!
