“НАШЕ ЖИТТЯ”, ВЕРЕСЕНЬ 2014 WWW.UNWLA.ORG 31 A Visit to Lydia Bodnar-Balahutrak’s Art Exhibit by Martha Noukas, Branch 118 President Houston area artist, Lydia Bodnar-Bala- hutrak, and her charming husband, Mychailo, arranged a fabulous one-day tour bus outing to the Beeville Art Museum in Beeville, Texas, to view Lydia's art exhibit entitled “If We Had Known.” The exhibit was on display from May 10, 2014, through July 17. According to Lydia, the inspiration for some of her artwork included in that exhibition was derived from the poem “Yakby ty znav” ( If You Had Known ) by one of the best- known Ukrainian writers, Ivan Franko. On Saturday, June 28, 2014, approximate- ly fifty art enthusiasts gathered at Lydia's home at 8 o’clock in the morning to enjoy coffee and re- freshments before boarding the tour bus. Several members from UNWLA Branch 118, numerous artists, educators, and art students joined Lydia and her husband on this wonderful excursion. Upon arrival to the Beeville Art Museum, the Museum Director, Tracy Saucier, greeted eve- ryone at the door and gave a short history of the beautiful plantation-style home, which now ex- hibits works from celebrated Texas artists, collec- tions, galleries, and museums. (Go to www.bamtexas.org to learn more about this beau- tiful museum.) Lydia Bodnar-Balahutrak's works are ab- solutely extraordinary, and everyone enjoyed lis- tening to her as she explained what inspired her to create the various pieces of art on display. Eve- ryone toured the exhibition halls and the grounds at their leisure and later enjoyed a delightful lunch in the dining hall of the museum. Lydia Bodnar-Balahutrak speaks about her works at the Beeville Art Museum (Beeville, Texas). The three-hour bus ride to and from the Beeville Art Museum provided a great way for travelers to meet one another, socialize, and to discuss art. Branch 118 salutes Lydia Bodnar- Balahutrak and extends to her their sincerest best wishes for continued success! Participants of the tour to the Beeville Art Museum.
