Two members were especially honored for the work and dedication within the Branch and within the org anization as a whole. Christina Sone - vytsky was recognized for her initiative in founding the Branch 25 years ago and Nadia Cwiach for her many years of dedicated service as President (6 years) and Treasurer (12 years) of the Branch. UNWLA President Marianna Zajac spoke about the work and goals of the UNWLA. One of the newest projects underway is the joint initiative with Rector Father Borys Gudziak to spur the d e- velopment of a women’s/gender studies curric u- lum in the humanities depart ment at the Ukrain - ian Catholic University in Lviv, Ukraine. Members of the branch had unanimously agreed to donate $500 toward the newly established Endowment Fund and presented Ms. Zajac with a check t o- wards this very important lectureship program. Durin g lunch, our guest Natalka Sone - vyts ky introduced a video prepared by Larysa Zielyk of Lidia Krushelnytsky’s audio - biography. Pani Lida, director of the New York - based Ukra i- nian Stage Ensemble, dedicated her life to youth, Ukrainian language, and theater arts. She pr o- duced over 150 plays and touched the lives of hundreds of students. In 2002, the Ensemble pa r- ticipated in the First International Diasporan Theater Festival in Kyiv where Pani Lida was honored with a Presidential decree for her signif i- cant con tributions to Ukrainian culture and art. Sadly, Pani Lida passed away in 2009, and so members of Branch 30 unanimously chose such an honored, respected, and talented person as patroness of their Branch. Pani Lida’s son, Lubomyr Krushelnytsky, and his wife Oksana were our honored guests. Oksana Krushelnytsky expressed gratitude on b e- half of the Krushelnytsky family, and her words moved all the members of Branch 30 along with guests who knew Pani Lida in one way or another. A champagne toast, the singing of Mn o- haya Lita , and the cutting of a delicious 25th birthday cake were enjoyed by all. Guests lingered to enjoy the company and lighthearted atmo s- phere, plus view the displays presented by the Svitlychka as well as the exhibitions of Branch 30 and of Lidia K rushelnytsky. Branch 30 is flattered by the letters of congratulations and thankful for donations r e- ceived from various organizations, attending guests, and invitees who could not be present at the anniversary celebration. In particular, we would like to a cknowledge SUMA Yonkers Fede r- al Credit Union, sponsors of the luncheon. A big thank - you goes out to everyone who supports the committed work of Branch 30 year round. Be it words of encouragement or financial contrib u- tions, support from the community is wha t drives the members of this Branch and ultimately i m- pacts the success of the UNWLA’s honorable e n- deavors. __________ __ _________ _____ ПЕРЕДВАКАЦІЙНІ СХОДИНИ 83 - го ВІДДІЛУ СУА Вже стало доброю традицією союзянок проводити останні сходини перед літнім відпо - чинком в іншій, нетрадиційній атмосфері. Цьо го разу 9 травня 2012 р. в Українському На родному Домі. Голова Наталя Дума підвела підсумки праці відділу за першу половину року . До Луганського відділу Союзу Українок вислано три посилки з одягом для дітей і до - рослих, іграшками, які потім союзянки Укра - їни розвозять в сиротинці. До Горблянського геріат р ичного пан - сіо нату вислано два інвалідні візочки за кошти відділу, а три візочки подаровані членками відділу – Іриною Куровицькою, Ярославою Лучечко і Анною Саф ’ ян. Активною є стипендійна референтка Ольга Кузьмин, яка постійно піклується про наших стипендіятів. Багатогранним був виступ Галини Ро - ма нишин, голови Окружної Управи Ню Йорку. Вона розповіла пр исутнім про справи в окрузі, дякувала активним союзянкам 83 - го Відділу СУА: Ярославі Лучечко, Богданні Слиж, Анні Саф ’ ян, Оксані Лопатинській, Анастасії Гірняк, які добровільно працюють в Українському Музеї, поповнюючи власноручно виготовле - ни ми сувеніра ми музейну крамничку. Завдяки Наді Савчук, імпрезовій рефе - рентці відділу і Володимирі Біланюк офіційна частина сходин плавно перейшла у розвагову. Наближався День Матері. З цієї нагоди було багато жартів, пісень. Рома Шуган розповіла про Ганну Черінь, Св ирида Ґудбай «Поезія ностальгія» – жанр популярний серед україн - ців на чужині. Швидко проминув час. Було затишно і тепло на душі.
