28 “НАШЕ ЖИТТЯ”, ВЕРЕСЕНЬ 2011 A DAY AT THE DALI MUSEUM by Vera K. Swade A view of the Dali Museum’s dramatic architecture. On Thursday, March 10, 2011, members of Branch 124 visited the new Dali Museum in downtown St. Petersburg. The group met at the museum early on a Thursday evening, looking forward to socializing while learning about a dynamic artist and his works. This mu seum is iconic and a beacon of the contemporary arts scene in downtown St. Peters - burg. Opened on January 4, 2011, the museum draws the eye with its dramatic architectural design and overlooks beautiful Tampa Bay. The museum Website offers a variety of vie ws and additional information about this beautiful landmark at http://thedali.org/ . Dali’ s life and art afford numerous op - portunities for students, teachers, scholars and interested individuals and groups to explore a wide range of topics, engage the min d, and reflect on the human experience. The collection of Dali’s work we had the opportunity to see is the world’s most comprehensive and has received a three - star rating from the Michelin Guide . Dali’s art, which is simultaneously classically based and pr ovocatively imaginative, resonates in the geometry of the concrete and the astonishing flow of glass from the fractured center of the building. Enjoying Dali’s work and the uniqueness of the classic structure that houses it is truly an unforgettable experi ence. If you are ever in the St. Petersburg area , do not miss this wonderful museum. You might want to end your visit to the museum as we did — by enjoying a culinary feast at a local Thai restaurant, where we discussed what we had seen during the day, got to know each other better, and began planning our next interesting excursion. Enjoying the Dali Museum. Branch 124 President Olya Czerkas, Orusya Petr ina - Johnson, Stefania Zadojnij, Iryna Resko, Irene Popovich, Eva Reinhardt, Marta Kozlov, Larysa Wolosheniuk - Kushnir .
