26 “НАШЕ ЖИТТЯ”, ЖОВТЕНЬ 2010 КОНКУРС ім. ПЕТРА І ЛЕСІ КОВАЛЕВИХ З УКРАЇНСЬКОЇ ІСТОРІЇ Союз Українок Америки повідомляє про конкурс творів з української історії. На конкурс приймаються історично - наукові праці, які вийшли друком у 200 8 – 20 10 роках, або рукописи. О б сяг праці не менше 150 сторінок друку, або (в разі не опублікованої праці) 300 сторінок машинопису. Термін надсилання праць 3 1 березня 2011 року. Лавреатів вибирає незалежне жюрі з істориків та науковців. Склад жюрі буде поданий при оголошенні вислідів конкурсу разом із іменами лавреатів. Твори на конкурс слід надсилати в трьох примірниках на адресу : UNWLA (Kovaliv Fund Competit ion) 203 Second Ave. , New York, NY 10003 Branch 124 of St. Petersburg, Florida Elects New Officers and Plans Anniversary Celebrations Amidst friends, laughter, and a little frivolity, Branch 124 of St. Petersburg, Florida, held its first meeting under t he leadership of newly elected preside nt Olya Czerkas on May 16, 2010. Ms. Czerkas assum es the responsibilities previously held by Luba Mycyk, who served as president of Branch 124 for ten years. Other newly elected officers of Branch 124 are Ola Noval (Vi ce President), Irene Popovich (Treasurer), and Mrs. Oksana Maksynyuk (Secretary). Attending the meeting as guest speakers were the Acting Liaison for Branches at Large, Orysia Zinych, and Mrs. Maria Nawarynsky, both from North Port, Florida. They presente d fascinating informa - tion about the history of the Ukrainian National Women’s League of America and its many contributions to the local, national, and international communities. Mrs. Nawarynsky has been involved with Branch 124 since it was organized 10 y ears ago, was instrumental in starting the branch, and is also the branch “Godmother.” It was an honor and a pleasure to have both guests attend the first meeting of our new board. Branch 124 will be celebrating its 10th anniversary on October 17, 2010, a nd festivities are being planned to commemorate this occasion. The St. Petersburg branch is also looking to expand its membership.
