“НАШЕ ЖИТТЯ”, ЖОВТЕНЬ 2010 17 Maria Polanskyj, UNWLA Scholarship Program Chairperson; Rostyslava Fedak, VP of Soyuz Ukrainok of Ukrain e ; Marianna Zajac, President , UNWLA; Zoriana Haftkowycz, UNWLA Art & Museum C hairperson . During the second roundtable, entitled “Contemporary state of the Ukrainian community in Poland,” Petro Tyma, the President of the Association of Ukrainians in Poland (ZUP), provided an insightful overview of the association and the Ukrainia n community in Poland. The Ukrainians in Poland continue to encounter difficulties in sustaining and advancing their identity. While WFUWO’s discussions focused on more concrete issues, such as communication with women’s democratic groups and, for example , social welfare programs and scholarship aid to students, UWC’s center of attention was more global, more political. However, we were afforded the opportunity to discuss the very real challenges our organizations throughout the world are now facing and to feel strength and solidarity in our determination and numbers. Maria Tucka, the President of the Peremyshl branch of ZUP, was responsible for the logistics and organization of both annual meetings. On behalf of myself; Zoriana Haftkowycz, UNWLA’s Art and Museum Chairperson; and Maria Polanskyj, Scholarship/Student Sponsorship Program Chairwoman, I would like to thank Ms. Tucka for the warmth and hospitality extended to us by her committee. Marianna Zajac , UNWLA President APOLOGIES AND ADDITIONS In th e September 2010 issue, we featured a wonderful story ent itled “My Babusias” (pp. 5 – 6), which was written by our featured cover artist for the month, Tatijana Jacenkiw. Unfortunately, the article was published with several typographical errors that were ov erlooked during final proofreading for the issue. Our most sincere apologies to the author and to readers for the unintentional oversight. The Ukrainian - language poem by Dima (September issue, p. 9) was translated into English by OL editor.
