The ladies we are welcoming this month represent both tren ds , and we are delighted and proud to introduce those who are brand new to the UNWLA and to reintroduce those who were formerly affiliated with UNWLA branches and have recently chosen to continue their work with the UNWLA as Members at Large. Vitayemo! Roxolana Yarymovych, Marianna Zajac, Members - at - Large Chair woman President Our Cover Artist Alexandra Isaievych Mason creates her art by weaving together clear boundaries of line and vibrant shimmering of color. Born and raised in Lviv, she received a broad education in the classical arts disciplines at the Ivan Trush College of Applied Arts in Lviv and later graduated from School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and Tufts University. Her longstanding interest in econ omics led her to participate in and to study economic policy reform in post - Communist countries. After earning a Masters degree in Economics and Public Policy from the Woodrow Wilson School at Princeton University, she continued working with an economic ad visory team to the government of Ukraine in mid - 1990s. She is a co - contributor to a Ukrainian language textbook tit led “Rozmovliaimo! ” (Let’s Talk) published in 2005. Alexandra became UNWLA member - at - large in 1990 and designed the logo currently used for the UNWLA’s Scholarship Program. As a recipient of UNWLA scholarship support during her first three years of studies in Boston, Alexandra is currently an active sponsor (through the UNWLA Scholarship/Children - Student Sponsorship Program) for students in Uk raine. While living in New Jersey Alexandra was a board member of the Ukrainian American Professionals and Businesspersons Association of New York and New Jersey. More recently (in 2008) she participated as an exhibitor at the Shevchenko day festivities at the Ukrainian Cultural Center in Los Angeles. Her acrylic and oil paintings, drawings and illustrations, and a lis t ing of her art exhibits are included on the artist’s Website: www.isaievych.com . Alexandra’s art is inspired by a wide range of interests th at span traditional fine art and Ukrainian folk crafts, sustainable design principles, and indigenous traditions from around the world. Her current work centers around integration of environmental, social, and spiritual dimensions in ways that inspire a se nse of deep interconnectedness of all life.
