“НАШЕ ЖИТТЯ”, ВЕРЕСЕНЬ 200 8 9 construction) , the President’s Reception at St. Sophia’s Cathedral on the occasion of Ukraine’s Independence Day, the Independence Day Parade on Khreshchatyk, changing gears as we moved from one venue to another. On our last day in Ukraine, Lilia Hryhorowych (president of Soyuz Ukrainok of Ukraine and deputy of the Ukrainian Parliament), Iryna Kurowyckyj, and I flew to Ivano-Frankivsk oblast. A town meeting was arranged by local officials where we personally distributed funds collected for flood victims. As we stood in front of the dispirited and helpless villagers of Prutivka and Stolova, the contrast between our exhilarating days in Kyiv and the despondency of these victims of the flood was humbling. Since the UNWLA Convention, we’ve had two Executive Board meetings and have formulated plans looking to the future. Pressing items on our agenda include ensuring the financial stability of Our Life , finding methods to retain and build our membership, enhancing our Website, and ensuring stronger communications with our membership to build an esprit de corps. The new National Board members enthusiastically accepted their leadership positions in the organization and we are all confident that we will accomplish these goals. I ask each of you to recognize that you are a most important and valued partner and participant on this journey. We will be asking you for your cooperation and support. The National Board and I hope to serve the greater good of our organization with the hop e that “ . . . our united and dedicated work for the goals of our organization serve as the rich embroidery that we pass on to future generations.” Marianna Zajac President Town Hall Village of Prutivka (Ivano Frankivsk Oblast).
