Afternoon Plenary Session After verification of quorum, the first order of business was approval of Minutes of the XXVII Convention held in Albany, New York. Next on the agenda was announcing the list of those who had earned the right to the title of Honorary Member. The six women chosen for this distinction would be formally recognized at the convention banquet. The remaining portion of the plenary ses sion focused on nominations and elections of N a tional Board Officers and the Auditing Committee. Banquet Saturday night’s Convention Banquet began with a cocktail reception, with guests and delegates in elegant attire mingling, renewing acquaintances, and unwinding from the day’s meetings and ses sions. Place cards, each sporting a miniature hand- embroidered rushnyk and the UNWLA emblem, directed those attending to their tables. Once all had found their seats, Convention Chair Anna Macie- linski formally opened the program with a brief welcoming speech and introduced Natalia Hewko, the Master of Ceremonies for the banquet. After acknowledging honored guests representing various institutions and organizations at the banquet, Ms. Hewko introduced Honorary President Iryna Kuro wyckyj, reciting highlights of Mrs. Kurowyckyj’s distinguished accomplishments as UNWLA presi dent, as the first Ukrainian president of the National Council of Women/USA, and as a strong commu nity leader. In her farewell address, the Honorary President formally thanked each member of her administration and introduced her successor, Ma rianna Zajac, providing a brief history of the newly elected president’s previous work in the organiza tion as Branch president, Regional Council presi dent, and vice president. Praising Ms. Zajac’s diverse accomplishments, she remarked, “She’s a mover and shaker.” At the podium, President Marianna Zajac greeted guests and delegates and spoke about her vision for the UNWLA and her enthusiasm for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
