Scholarship/Student Sponsorship Program Chair Maria Polanskyj thanked President Iryna Kurowyckyj for agreeing to designate the February issue of Our Life to honor the program’s 40th anni versary and thanked the editors for their assistance in preparing issue. Olha Trytyak spoke about the project related to preserving UNWLA archival materials at the Archive Center in Minneapolis, stating that the center had informed her that it was not accepting further materials at the present time due to lack of available space. She noted, however, that UNWLA Branches should continue their work on gathering and organizing archival collections for the future, as the center’s freeze on new materials was temporary. Brief reports were also presented by Regional Council presidents or their representa tives. During the meeting, President Iryna Kuro wyckyj suggested that a new National Board position be created—Liaison for Members-at- Large—and that the position should be officially filled by Roxolana Yarymovych, who has been serving the organization in this capacity without a seat on the Board. After some discussion on this matter, Board members agreed that it should be proposed to the general UNWLA membership dur ing one of the plenary sessions. The Board then discussed the nominees for Honorary Member. Honorary President Anna Kraw- czuk addressed those gathered, expressing her pride at being a UNWLA member for 43 years. She thanked President Iryna Kurowyckyj, who had served as vice president during her administration, and the editors of Our Life for their help, and extended warmest wishes to those who would be serving as leaders of the organization for the next three years. The final speaker at the National Board meeting was President Iryna Kurowyckyj who thanked the Board members for their help and support and expressed her pride in participating in an orderly transfer of power to the next administra tion. She spoke warmly of watching the nominee for president, Marianna Zajac, evolve as an organiza tion leader, one with an impressive capacity for working with others and succeeding in varied and intricate endeavors. The president then commented on ongoing UNWLA projects: a translation of Valentyna Borysenko’s book on the Great Famine; Natalia Gawdiak’s work on the history of the UNWLA; the organization’s plans to purchase, equip, and staff a mobile hospital unit for Ukraine; and membership issues. She concluded by observing that each member of the Board had contributed something valuable to the organization during her term as president. At this juncture, Vice President Marianna Zajac proposed that the Board bestow on President Iryna Kurowyckyj the title of Honorary President, a proposal that was unanimously and heartily endorsed and approved by all Board members. As the meeting drew to a close, Financial Secretary Roma Shuhan and Parliamentarian Oksana Xenos answered questions related to new IRS e-filing regulations for UNWLA branches.
